Grace Ellison This blog is for my family and anyone else who will actually care about my wellbeing throughout the next 6 months.

As far as plans go, I don't have many. I'm meeting an organisation called OzIntro when I arrive in Sydney and they're gonna give me surfing lessons, take me up Blue Mountains, take me Sydney Aquarium and loadsa stuff. They're also my best link to getting a job...

With the help of way too many nature programmes and Uncle Michael I've highlighted a few things that I can't come home without doing... like spending lots of time in the Daintree Rainforest, visiting the Gold Coast, snorkling in the Great Barrier Reef, everything involved in the first week, seeing as many national parks as possible and obviously hunting Steve Irwins ghost down at the zoo in Brisbane.

I have my sim card for while im over there now so if you wanna stretch your phone bill a bit just ask for it!

I'll update this blog thing as much as I can... See you all in 6 months :)

I left Byron on Monday with a worried head about Surfer's Paradise because everyone I'd spoken to said it's full of the wrong kind of people and just a big tourist attraction, but now I'm here I really like it... It's kind of like Miami - 40 degrees and full of beaches and sky scrapers. I'm staying in a 14 bed dorm so I'd made tons of friends on the first day which is great and I've been shown around by everyone so it's all good. As for getting a job I'm feeling pretty hopeful... ALTHOUGH yesterday I had a trial [View Full Entry]

Up the coast Oceania
After a 10 hour bus journey up the coast on Monday we arrived at Spot X, a surf camp hidden from all the major towns. The place was really cool and everything was made out of surf boards and we just sat around the campfire at night. The next day we went surfing on the private beach which was cool, but way too hot and preferred it when I did it in Sydney! 2 girls from my hostel in Sydney were on the bus with me and I made more friends on it, all of which are here in Byron with [View Full Entry]

Week Two Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Coogee
Day one
Day one
The group
Not really done much this week to be honest... the weather was much hotter, it's been hitting 40 degrees so lots of suncream and sunbathing for me :) The meal up the tower was alright... tried kangaroo which was pretty nice but i wouldn't have paid 70 dollars for it... which is what they usually charge! Went on a 2 hour coastal walk to Bondi with couple of friends the other day, had some creepy sculpture fest on the way which made it worth the walk! Bondi beach was gorgeous but there wasn't much to do and we ended up getting [View Full Entry]

First meeting with some abbos!
Beach bbq :)

I don't really know where to start - I've been having problems with this all week and haven't been able to update it so I'll try and wrap it up now. Day 2 - We all went surfing on a private beach in Bondi and the weather was 40 degrees. Couldn't have had a better day to be honest, even though I was rubbish at it :) The water was just pure clear and the coach men were all mint, we all finished off with a walk along the beach! The group got invited to a free meal and night out [View Full Entry]

Finally arrived after 2 effort flights After finding out there was about ten people on my flight the whole time that were in my Ozintro group and making friends with them, we met the man at the airport and some others and went to the hostel... The weather wasn't that sunny so wasn't really freaking out about being away from home because didn't really feel like Australia. But then couldn't get to a payphone and simcard wouldn't work and just wanted to ring mum and dad which was rubbish! So morning sucked. Then Mark (team leader man) took us all around [View Full Entry]
