i leave the ship into the portbuilding. that's new, because once upon the boats used to dock on the towns promenade. 'round the port there's barbed-nato-wire everywhere, and i remember the drunk truckdriver from frankfurt from yesterday night, who told me that in patras you cannot park your truck anymore, 'cause all the time these poor refugees cut open the cover of your trailer to smuggle themselves to italy. in the port i get myself a phonecard first & some postcards to write for boring afternoons on the highway. the place is brandnew and modern, and open all nite. i take [View Full Entry]

after taking a long deep look into the nicest eyes of sofia in casablanca i take a walk to the trainstation, enjoying myself and the last sunny afternoon in the city. i think round maria luiza i start missing my favorite company again, and at sunset over vitosha from the trainstations balcony it gets worse, so i immediately have to leave to dragoman to not change my direction:-) dragoman is great. dark and cold as usual, and completely unchanged since 1995, i am more than impressed. if you miss old bulgaria on some days, this is the place for you. there's [View Full Entry]

Except for some cigars, which I can’t find at all, I succeed with my shopping and find a cheap ride to Varadero, on which I pay for the same luxury tourist bus with which we travelled this morning a fraction of that price in Cuban pesos. Luckily Friedemann also has realized that this is no occasion for refusing to take a cab, because the main reason for making this deviation is visiting Angela. Although she lives relatively near to the busstation, it takes the cabdriver, who is probably used to customers with a more touristical destination, almost an hour to find the street Together we make a nice meal in her house.
