Encouragement
I don't think you need to worry Doug. Doing the real thing is quite different to training as you know. Once you get to France and start on the trail with all its changing scenery from day to day, you will automatically be able to do more. You will probably be stiff from the initial mountain sections, but then, I am told, it becomes a lot easier. You will also get fitter each day.

Ah- memories!
Definitely the soft option with all those huts to sleep in. Imagine us in tents with hot water brought to the tent door in a small bowl for washing. The only photo that reflects where I went is Uhuru Peak itself. You look a lot more calm and collected than I did!

Good Selection of Animals
Doug - I hadn't realised you had done Botswana too. I have only this evening been looking through a brochure on Botswana, intending to take my friend Steph there in May/June. I wondered if we would see a good selection of animals - you have shown that we can expect to do so.

And hot chocolate with marshmellows...
and making igloos in the piles of snow out the front from the road clearings, and the frozen swimming pool, and the waterfall in the rockies that still flowed underneath the icicles... And freaking out on the train when we went past the freight train that had derailed the day before.

Come on Doug, just admit that you stole my body lotion to use yourself... I found it beside your pillow! :) And leaving my bug-infested tent to seek refuge in Fernando's bug-free tent was a necessity... (despite Billy's warning to me, "you'll have more than bugs to worry about in Fernando's tent!")

Melbourne Cup
Finally caught up with the internet here in Swakopmund. Even now, it has been completely unreliable - not working at all this morning, and incredibly slow at other times.
