Well after a little hiccup dropping Luna off (her shots weren't up to date) and Ernie getting a pat down at security, we have arrived at our gate and are about to board the first leg of our journey to Sweden! We are very excited to be starting this honeymoon adventure only 2 1/2 years after our wedding :) We will be arriving in Stockholm around 12:30pm local time (after a quick stop in Iceland) and then we will set out to explore the sights! Weather looks a little crummy for Friday, so we'll have to try to see the outdoor sights on Thursday! We will need some coffee for sure! Next update will be from Stockholm! Wlysm... read more

We woke up "early" this morning to enjoy a tasty breakfast on the farm! After a quick shower (literally - the water couldn't decide d it was hr or cold and had that sulfury smell), we headed towards Geysir. Geysir is actually a cluster of little geysers including one that erupts every 5 minutes! We witnessed one eruption up close - it was spectacular! After Geysir we headed for Gullfoss, Icelanda largest waterfall. It did not disappoint! Although the wind was howling and the walkway was solid ice, we managed to get a great view. It is a major tourist destination though, so when the tour buses started lining up, we got out if there! We decided it was time to make our way to Reykjavik, since we had to turn the rental car in by ... read more

We woke up today to a drizzly rain and almost no visibility! But, why would that stop us from going on our adventure?! Our first stop for the day was planned to be a little place called Dulhaoney (sp?) that has a really neat rock formation on the beach. Our visit there was abruptly halted, however, when we realized we were going to have to cross an ocean inlet to get there! No thank you! We couldn't really see the formation anyway, so we moved on. Our next stop was down a gravely bumpy road to a "point of interest" on the map - which was a short walking oath to view a glacier. It was pretty rainy, so we didn't spend much time before getting back in the car and continuing on. We stopped next ... read more

We had a little bit late of a start today since we decided to make up a little bit of sleep! Our destination for the day was Jokulsarlon, a little place about 200 km from our hotel in Vik. After grabbing a delicious breakfast (aka juice boxes and a box of cookies) at the gas station, we hit the road! On our way we passed some gorgeous scenery: a few waterfalls, black sand rocky fields, glaciers and mountains. Everything is just beautiful. The weather today was great, sunshine the whole day!! We made it to Jokulsarlon in the early afternoon, and it was well worth the drive! We first stopped at a little pull-off and hiked over a hill to view the icebergs backdropped by the Vatnajokull glacier. We were busy taking pictures when we heard ... read more

We made it! We arrived this morning right On time at 6:30 am local time. We breezed through customs, grabbed a quick breakfast, got our rental car and hit the road... almost! Our rental only had a quarter tank so we stopped to fill up (They don't have the bring it back full rules here). But when we got to the gas station, we couldn't figure out how to open the gas thing! Long story short, we ended up back at the car rental place so they could show us how to do it (its an unmarked tiny lever on the drivers side floor). Finally we were on the road by about 8am. Our first stop was the Raufarholshellir ice caves (about a 45 min drive from the airport). Ernie discovered the caves during some research ... read more
