Yes, we are still on the road and I have been terrible about keeping you up to date about what we have been doing and where we have been. So I will give you a snapshot of what has been going on with us. Here goes: Last time you heard from us we were in Van Buren, MO with the flooding. We left there and headed to Branson for a few days. It was nice there and we saw a few shows and dried out and cleaned up the Coach. Branson has changed since the last time we visited there. There are a lot of places that are closed and for sale and the shows that we went to see were not even half full. I know that this is not their "peak" season but we ... read more

Sorry it has been so long since I blogged but we have had a bit of excitement and then we were without the internet for a few days. We have been here in Branson, MO since Monday drying out. More about that later. I listed the town that we were in as Cabool, MO. That isn't correct but the blog doesn't have Van Buren, MO as a town so I chose the one closest to where we were. We left Severville, TN on the 26th and headed just 50 miles up the road to Knoxville to a repair place called East Tennessee Luxury Coach to get a couple of our blinds fixed (cords broke). We had run across this guy on the Prevost Forum and he was only 50 miles from us and so we decided ... read more

After a leisurely morning of coffee and reading the paper we jumped in the truck and headed to the Smoky Mountain National Park. We are staying right at the base of the Park here in Sevierville and were told that the best scenic drive to take was the Cades Cove loop. It was a beautiful drive as we have found that Tennessee is turning out to be one of our favorite States. There are almost daily thunderstorms which keeps things very lush and green but surprisingly there aren't any bugs or mosquitoes! You can sit outside and enjoy the fireflies, which I have come to love. I was telling Don today that my favorite thing so far is watching them each night dance around in the trees. They just mesmerize me. I wish I could bottle ... read more

We dropped Karlie off at Barker Lounge at 9am and headed to Dollywood. It opened at 10am and we got there and parked in plenty of time. It is a very organized place, much like Disneyland, so things go very smoothly. It is located in a very wooded setting, in fact you wouldn't even know it was there if it weren't for the signs. They give you a schedule of all the shows with the times and theaters that they are in. We got a coffee and cinnamon roll and developed a plan of attack for the day. We fit in five shows between 10:30 and 5pm. It started with a Gospel group, the Kingdom Heirs. They were amazing and it was a great way to start the day. We ended the day with Dreamland Drive-in ... read more

We traveled from Charlotte to Dandridge, TN today which was about 220 miles. It was a beautiful drive as everything in this area is so green and lush. We are staying at the same resort that our friends Reta and Jim stayed at in May called Anchor Down. It is right on Lake Douglas in Dandridge which is a tiny town outside of Seiverville. It is a beautiful park and has only been open for a short time. I have taken a few pictures to show you so you could see just how nice it is. Jim & Reta were right in steering us here. Thanks guys! We drove to the little town of Dandridge on Tuesday which is like stepping back in time. We were told to go to Tinsley-Bible Pharmacy for lunch. It is ... read more

We were planning on going to Virginia to visit Don's ex-brother-in-law Wayne and his family but they decided to come to Charlotte to see us instead. Wayne and Rhonda arrived on Thursday morning and we all headed to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. We are not big NASCAR fans but we enjoyed spending time with Wayne and Rhonda. The Hall of Fame is done nicely and has a lot of history as well as interactive things so they keep it interesting for everyone. Friday was spent going around to some of the garages in the area to see the cars and then Wayne and Rhonda spent the afternoon at the Billy Graham Library while we took some time off and got things ready to have them over for a BBQ. We had a nice dinner and ... read more

What an amazing place and an amazing man. I had been looking forward to visiting this place since we decided to make this journey South and I wasn't disappointed. The grounds are immaculate and so peaceful. It is not over done it is just simple and perfect. Even if you are not a strong believer, I think you will enjoy this because like I said it is not done in an "in your face" kind of way. It is done for you to have your own journey and reflection with God as Billy Graham wants everyone to know Him, Jesus Christ, not him, Billy Graham. He touched so many from so many nations it is astounding. The pictures will speak for themselves. Everything is free but if you want to make a donation you can. Even ... read more

Packed up and left our wonderful RV spot in Charleston to travel to Charlotte. Along the way we stopped off in Kershaw, SC to visit a friend of mine that I went to elementary school with. She and her boyfriend lived in Clovis for years and had a big horse arena but about 6 years ago they moved here to South Carolina and bought over 300 hundred acres and built a beautiful horse stable. She has Paso Fino horses and she competes with them. It is nothing like the western riding. They wear what I call "proper" attire and these horse are small but very regal. It is beautiful to watch. She trains and boards as well. Like I said, she and Johnny have quite the spread and it was really fun to visit and see ... read more

Got up bright and early to drop Karlie off at daycare by 8am. She had such a great time yesterday with Charlie the owner and his dog Rocket, the German Shepherd. I think they have some more dogs joining them today as it is Friday and I guess owners give their dog a treat on Fridays. Crazy what we do for our pets nowadays. We caught the ferry over to the Island of Fort Sumter where the first shot of the Civil War was fired. The battle lasted only 34 hours before the quarters were entirely burned. The Civil War that had so long been dreaded had begun. Even though the fort is just a shell of what it once was, you can still get a feel of what it must have been like. If you ... read more

Traveled here to Charleston from Hilton Head on Monday which was a whopping 98 miles and set up camp in a wonderful RV park called Oak Plantation. It is flat, grassy, and has HUGE oak trees all around the property. Funny thing I have noticed about people on this trip. Don and I are not planners as we never know how long we are going to want to travel so we typically don't make reservations. That said, we have never had a problem in the past but this trip we have run into, how shall I put this nicely, a little attitude, checking into some places when asked if we have a reservation. This is the second place that has done this to us. The first place just flat said they didn't have any spots for ... read more
