Greetings from dusty, windy Odessa! We are here visiting Don's nephew Chad and his wife Shawna. They were gracious enough to let us park on their 10 acre property. Chad works for an oil company here in Odessa but recently got a promotion and so they are in the process of packing and moving to Fort Collins, CO. They are very excited to leave Texas and venture to a new state. Chad and Shawna bought us dinner, which we weren't happy about, it was Mexican, my favorite, and we had a really nice visit. It was really windy and dusty while we were there. About the same as it has been since we left California. We are heading to Fredericksburg, TX tomorrow to stay at Buckhorn RV park. This is a place we have stayed a ... read more

Greetings from Carlsbad, NM! We made it here yesterday from El Paso, Texas. It was an easy 160 mile day. We are staying at the Carlsbad RV Park just outside of Carlsbad. It is an OK park. There are lot's of oil worker staying here. Many are from Texas. It has been a little hot here. In the mid 90's but it is supposed to cool down a little on Tuesday, the day we leave. We went to the Cavern today. It was 92 degrees outside and 56 degrees inside. I wore long pants and a sweatshirt and was comfortable. There are a few tours that you can take but due to my physical restrictions we settled on the Big Room Route which takes you down into and out of the cave by elevator. Then you ... read more

Today was one of those days when nothing seemed to go as planned. We started out in Lordsburg, NM getting up bright and early so that we could go to breakfast before we hit the road. Little did we know that we had hit the time change so instead of it being 8:30 it was 9:30 after we were seated for breakfast which didn't bode well for an early start. Oh well. Then we had a choice of two ways to go to the Carlsbad Caverns. We decided to go through Las Cruces instead of El Paso because we hadn't been there before. Well we got to Alamagordo and the road that we needed to take over to Carlsbad had NUMEROUSsigns forbidding trucks or vehicles or 60 ft from traveling on this road. There was a ... read more

So many of you have been asking me when I was going to start blogging and where the heck are we? Well, after our appt. at the Prevost plant on Monday we needed to spend another night there in Mira Loma as I was expecting a phone call from my Dr. here in Fresno regarding some test results and whether or not I was going to need to come back to Fresno or if I could continue on with my trip. Needless to say after 4 phone calls and waiting until 3pm Tuesday we just figured everything was clear and took off to get out of the LA traffic. We made it to Blythe and spent the night in a nice little RV park on the Colorado River. On Wednesday morning we got up and were ... read more

Well we finally began our trip to the Carolina's. I am a little behind in the blogging (more to follow about that) but better late than never. We started out on Friday to attend the wedding of Don's sister Phyllis' grandson Geoff's wedding in Temecula. Phyllis rode down in the Coach with us and we had a really nice visit. We stayed at an RV park just 2 miles from the wedding venue which made it very convenient. It was at an Indian Casino called Pechanga. The RV park was very nice and the spaces where very wide with nice grassy areas which Karlie appreciated very much. The weather was great and we really liked the downtown area of Temecula even though we didn't have any time to explore much since we were busy with the ... read more

Just starting to pack up the Coach for our trip to the Carolina's. Planning on being gone 3-4 months. Time will fly by like it did when we took the last long trip to the East Coast. We are looking forward to breaking in "our new to us" Coach on this trip. Stay tuned!... read more

We arrived home on Tuesday, October 19th after 121 days, 28 states, and 10,200 miles on the road. It has been the most amazing trip that we have taken so far in our life together and I am glad that I have kept this blog so that I can look back on all the places we have been and remember it all. While we missed our family and friends terribly this was a trip of a lifetime and I don't think we would change a thing. We met many interesting people and visited some of the most exciting and wonderful places that this great country has to offer. I hope that you have enjoyed this blog too and who knows, maybe we have enticed you enough to go out and visit some of the places that ... read more

We finally got out of the rain in Maine. We left on Saturday after having to extend our stay 2 days because of the storm that had come in. It really didn't hit us too hard but the area that we were traveling through, New Hampshire and Vermont, were getting some really nasty winds and rain so we decided we were better off to stay put until everything blew over. Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous sunny day and we didn't really have to travel all too far since we only wanted to make it to Springfield, MA to stay the night so that we could go to the NBA Hall of Fame on Sunday. On our way to Springfield we passed through South Deerfield, MA which is where the Yankee Candle Factory is. We ... read more

Greetings from rain soaked Maine. We have been here in Scarborough, ME since Sunday and were going to leave yesterday but then it rained so we stayed an extra day. Now, we are experiencing remnants of Hurriance Iris or whomever and so we are hunkered down for a couple more days here because of the rain and wind that is coming through. It is still in the 70's so it isn't cold but it is raining off and on. The wind hasn't picked up yet but it is supposed to tonight. I am really looking forward to having an East Coast storm experience (NOT!). Once we get on the road we will be heading back into New Hampshire and then Massachusetts to the Yankee Candle Factory and the NBA Hall of Fame. After we have finished ... read more

We made it! Finally we are here and we couldn't be happier. It is weird to be all the way across the US again only this time we are at the top instead of the bottom of the U.S. We arrived here on Monday after traveling from New Hampshire. The roads here are mostly two lane country type roads and not interstates or highways. That said, the going is very slow. The good side to this however is that you see a lot of beautiful country you just have to not be in a hurry which we are not. We are staying in a very nice RV park and it is very quiet and virtually empty which is wonderful. It closes down for the season on October 24th so most people have already been here I ... read more
