As women, we are conditioned to accept and make do with what's in front of us: Don't dream too big. Don't think of all the possibilities. Shrink your world to fit what other people believe you can do. If you dream too big, after all, you might fail --and how would the rest of the world look at you then?

But...what if we could make our grandest desires materialize? What if that trip to Papua New Guinea that you dreamed about all your life was really right around the corner? What if your voyage on the Queen Mary was within your grasp?

Perhaps you've always wanted to visit the pyramids in Egypt, but your husband has no desire to leave the county, let alone the country.

Maybe your desire is more personal. Upon doing some genealogical research, you discovered some long-lost relatives in Greece (or Israel!) that you now want to visit. You've hear so many fabulous things about the country but are petrified to be plunked down in the middle of a region where English is not the primnary language.

Believe me. You can do it!

.... Most of us stumble through life without a dream or without knowing what we want. You, too harbor a dream even if you haven't yet given it voice. WHere have you always wanted to go? Think it. Dream it . Write it down. And figure out how to get there.

What's up party people?! That's right!! I got a ride home on the back of a motorbike the other day. Ha ha ha. It was SO FUNNY because he doesn't really speak ENGlish at all. Here's him : "Moto. Avenida Rivadavia." Here's me "vroom!! vroom!! :) :)" OFF THA HOOK!!! Oh! to add to the List of Things I Love about Buenos Aires enos Aires, I have to add the MIX CLASS at the gym. It's 45 minutes on the bicycle and 15 minutes on the mat doing ab excersizes. As soon as I put my foot in the peddle, it was like "I'm home." Also the AERO BOX class is pretty cool, and POWER LOCAL rocks my world. After one week, my roommate said "you're legs are slimmer." After two weeks, I am getting compliments ... read more

Taught class in the morning, then (and a BIG THANK YOU here to Diego for -- one of my students --for helping me figure out how to get there) off to Santa Lucia Eye Clinic. Heh heh. Take deep breath. Remember personal motto to "Do one thing that scares you everyday" --(Baz Luhrman). Charise finds the eye clinic, asks for help (in Spanish, thank you very much!) SIDE NOTE. That´s a PLEASURE (I´m making a list of Things I like) and I have to say, it´s a real pleasure when someone understands my Spanish! Back to the story, I find the Guardia, which is the section I want, ( I had been in the section for eye exams). I take a number, 193 and they´re on 179 -- not that long of a wait!! SIDE NOTE ... read more

I just started working with a new company. They pay more (35 pesos an hour) and they even have a photocopy machine! It´s such a pleasure to NOT have to go to a Locutorio (Internet Cafe) and print out everything and pay for it and then have to keep my receipts and have to justify why I should be reimbursed for every lesson. It´s only one class from 8- 9:30 twice a week and another class, once a week from 8-9.30. So it´s only added 4.5 hrs a week (not a lot of pay and A LOT of preparation!) but ANY CLASSES are better than NO CLASSES . And it feels incredibly good to work every day of the week. (I still have private students on Mon and Thurs am). And the boss is extremely Communicative ... read more

I never know what to expect, in terms of attire, from these things. For ex, for me, Kabbalat Shabbat means putting on a skirt. But here, at lot of the people are very casual and wear jeans and T-shirts. For me, the Seder is more casual. Here the ladies were wearing strappy formal dresses and the men, dark suits, white shirts and ties! (One of these things isn´t like the other... Oops!) Okay, so after the service at Templo Libertad, we head to the adjoining building, the Jewish Museum, for the seder. First, I was excited to see and use a real hagaddah from Buenos Aires! I was imagining what kind of drawings and/or commentaries it would have, being Sepharadi and all. And what do they hand us?? A PIECE OF PAPER. That´s right. A single ... read more

A few weeks ago, I was sitting on the beach, too! Now the weather is turning, the days aren't as long any more, the hot isn't as intense. Did you make it a megillah reading? I've been seriouly slacking in the Judaism department. So I decided to go to a megillah reading. I was thinking it would be a good thing to bring Luis to, too, because it's so light and freilach. But it was a disaster. I told him he was going to love the service because it's filled with costumes and children incostume and is very light -hearted and fun. Well, so we went to Templo Libertad. Libertad is where we've been going to Kabbalat Shabbat and LOVING LOVING LOVING the service b/c of the 4 part harmony with the Israeli woman who has ... read more

Hello from Buenos Aires! I had such a relaxing, peaceful, beautiful time at Mar Azul (the Beach!!) We left BsAS on Thurs. Had to meet up at Retiro for the bus departing at 10 pm. It is ONLY due to my roommate, who drew me a map and told me EXACTLY what to expect, what to look for, even where to sit and drink coffee (the safe places, where I wouldn't get robbed) where to wait that I was able to (barely!) negotiate the frenzied MOB of people and activity at the Bus Station. Sometimes it comes in handy to have an Argentine Roommate-- I'll admit it. Even though she is INCREDIBLY LOUD in the morning, putting the TV on LOUD and talking on the phone even LOUDER but I digress... We met at Plataforma 37. ... read more

Yesterday Luis and I went to Caminito -- tango originated here. A very touristy spot. There are lots of people dancing tango and good stuff to photo. We went because there is an exposition of paintings from the Louvre on open-air display that I wanted to see. Waiting for the bus, a young woman hears me ask in English how long the trip is? And she answers 45 minutes from here. She has a backpack, a map, and the look of a tourist FRESH off the plane. I help her get on the bus -- telling her she needs to have coins because the busses only take coins(monedas) and they won't change bills for you. I helped her (well, I tried!) to figure out which coins she needed for the bus. And I told her to ... read more
