Laos

Asia » Laos » West » Luang Prabang
We left Vietnam for Laos our driver was a total nutter even by Asian standards he nearly hit cattle and cyclist he would say it's good driver but i would say more luck than judgement. To cross the border we had to pay $30 for a 30 day visa and it's well worth it. We head from the border to the capital Vientiane. The city is well laid out and not at all busy with the mekong flowing at the border between the city and Thailand being dry season we could nearly walk across to the other side and i'm sure [View Full Entry]

I left Thailand to join another tour. This tour was of Cambodia. We started in Siem Reap where Angkor Wat is based. This temple and teh temples around it are amazing there are about 47 temples within close proximity to one another including the jungle temple where Tomb raider was filmed. You could easily spend a whole day going round the temples. Make sure to visit Angkor wat bar for cheap cocktails free pool and good music (subject to personal taste). The town it's self has a lot of restaurants but not alot else to offer a tourist in my view. [View Full Entry]

Vietnam

Asia » Vietnam » Southeast » Ho Chi Minh City
Still on tour so although this starts in Ho Chi Minh City formely Saigon this also tells you more about other parts of Vietnam as it's easier to write blog entries this way. Saigon is an exceptionally busy city with a well established back packers area. It has alot for people to come and visit including a covered market called Ben Thanh although not massive in size it didn't lack character. The reunification palace is a real historic building as a result of the fight for indepedence althoguh the building wasn't as amazing as hoped. We also visited the Catherdral which [View Full Entry]

Thailand first stop

 Asia » Thailand » Central » Bangkok
Today i arrived in Bangkok. Going from 16 degrees in Hong Kong to 35 degrees in Thailand really knocked me for 6. I got my taxi to my hotel which was not on the map that the tourist desk had so we drove around for hours till we found the road. Not like the London cabbeys at home with the knowledge. The hotel was beautifull with lovely surroundings but i was surprised to see my hotel was also a stop off point for pre and post op transexuals. Breakfast was very scary and i was glad to leave the hotel to [View Full Entry]

Left Japan but what the Hey

 Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Ueno
I am cheating on this Blog as am in China but was in Japan i promise. The net and things in General are expensive in Travelling terms so if you are trying to save money then Tokyo is not the place to g. However the people and the sites are well worth the visit. Ueno is lovely the park has been there for years and the zoo has loads of different animals (to be expected). The main attraction being the panda although the panda that i saw looked depressed alone and lived in sxxt conditions no wonder they find it hand [View Full Entry]

Mongolia

 Asia » Mongolia » Ulaanbaatar
Hello one and all. I am currently in Mongolia in a place called Ulaanbaatar, i was expecting the town to be a bit of a shanty town but it is actually really built up which was not what i expected. The roads are really dangerous and there doesn't really seem to be any traffic enforcement and the roads all covered in potholes so drives constantly swerve. We left moscow a nearly a week ago where we had a 4 day journey across Russia it was a real experience and one that i would recomend to anyone who can do it. I [View Full Entry]

Cold

 Europe » Russia » Centre » Moscow
This is my first entry outside the Uk and i have to apologise for it taking so long to make. It has been so hard to find a Internet cafe in St Petersburg that i had to wait till Moscow before i could make an entry. I arrived at St Petersburg aiprot at 4pm Russia time and it was allready getting dark. The Russian may look intimidating but i had no problems getting in so they must be ok. The airport it's self is very basic but the military presence is your main welcome to Russia and they have to given [View Full Entry]
