It's the last day in Hong Kong, and by tomorrow morning we would be back in the sweet arms of Bangkok. We spent the afternoon exploring the Ladies Market and Jade Market in Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok. The crowd is never-ending, and even in the busiest peak period in Singapore you don't see such a great crowd walking up the stairs of the MTR Station ever. The difference between the markets in Singapore and the ones in Hong Kong is that in my country, our markets are not a regular thing. We call them a "pasar malam" (means "night market" in Bahasa Melayu). Every few months, in the suburban areas we would have a night market selling fake CDs and VCDs (but never pornography, of course. After having mounted The Peak yesterday, today we set out to explore the nooks and crannies of the city, more specifically we went to Nathan Road. This is where the famous Peninsula Hotel, Kowloon Park, and Chungking Mansions are all located around. I was interested to see Peninsula Hotel, where room rates start from HK$3700 (which is S$740! *gasp*) to HK$48, 000 (which is almost S$10, 000 *faint*) for the Peninsula Suite. But first we had to say goodbye to our fabulous suite in the old hotel and try to find our new obscure Island Pacific Hotel, which was located in the middle of Sheung Wan. Finding this hotel was like trying to search for some treasure, because it wasn't conveniently located near any MTR and it took lots of asking around before we found it. ... read more

Our Emirates flight was scheduled for around 1pm today but when we reached the airport at 11+am we found out that there was a 2-hour delay, which was seriously irritating because what could we do in the airport for so many hours??? We shopped, of course :)) But on board the flight everything was quite nice (except for one very annoying Thai flight stewardess, obviously a senior one because she kept ordering another Thai stewardess around)- especially the in-flight personal TV and our special seafood meals! The scallops, big prawns, and fish were all very fresh and very delicious. Moreover the landing at the HK airport was smooth and with no unnecessary bumps.
