Rainy Monday Today was a pretty uneventful day. We got up early (7am is early for me) and David put his stuff together and headed to the Canadian Passport Office to renew his passport. It only took a couple hours to get it done and should have it ready by Thursday which is great since I'm flying on Friday. Good timing. The weather was quite terrible so I went back to the room to get some laptop time and work on the blog as you might have noticed (shout out to Vincent for his help). The upside of all the rain is that D got to test his Arc'terix jacket and it works real good. He was dry the whole way...can't say the same for the jeans though but that's another matter. By 1300 the rain ... read more

Stanley Park Located on the North side of Downtown Vancouver with 404.9 hectares: It is more than 10% larger than New York City's Central Park. It has a 8.8 km (5.5 mi) seawall path that circles the park. Much of the park remains forested with an estimated half million trees that can be as tall as 76 m (250 ft) and hundreds of years old. There are approximately 200 km (120 mi) of trails and roads in the park. We entered the Park from Beach Av. and followed the seawall to the third beach where we cut across to the west side of the park taking Tatlow Trail to Squirrel Trail to Beaver Lake to Ravine Trail which brought us to the East side of the park where we photographed the Lost Lagoon, Downtown Vancouver, ... read more

With just 2 hrs of sleep in the last 24hrs we were finally ready: Camping + Climbing + photo gear packed without being overweight or oversized which was going to save us extra fees in the long run. We purchased a specialty Cressy Apnea Team freediving bag to maintain the airlines guidelines and wrapped the fins with 7mm wetsuits to protect them. We acquire extreme sport insurance with "The Atlas International" just in case US$ 250 deductable US$ 500000 deductable totally worth it: US$ 283 for 5 months. On the carry on we had: photo gear on a backpack that would fit ( Sony Vaio FW560F, two Canon camera bodies, 6 lenses, flash and filters). On a second backpack we had four 500 GB hard drives in a hard case to protect them, 2 iphones that ... read more

First night in NYC we found a cozy indian restaurant had a mix of appetizers and tried indian beer then went off to East Village for some drinks. Next day was a full on day: Quick walk in Soho, went to Brooklyn Heights and took awesome pictures from the promenade and stop for a Brooklyn Lager and sandwich in a local Brooklyin restaurant: "Park Plaza" two blocks away from my fave park in the city "Empire- Fulton Ferry State Park...still cant get over the fact that it was closed. This was the only one place that I wanted to take David to so he could play with his zoom. Any way...took a boat ride to the city walked around the business district and old home port "North Cove Marina" and had another drink by the water. ... read more
