Blimey... ...You're not wrong. Significant security procedures indeed! The big strong David photo is a cracker by the way, he looks superimposed! Taj was well worth the money though...
Rajasthan! This is a great blog, made all the more interesting because that was one of the last places I went before I came home... Loved Jodphur I gotta say, and the camel safari from Jaisalmer was also a great experience! (Have you been checking my blog? More stuff about it on there... www.myspace.com/alexkavanagh if you didn't have it already). Did you go to see the Karna Mata rat temple in Bikaner?! Madness!
Delhi indeed! David, you'll be glad to know I did make it to old Delhi in the end, and yes, even though I'd already come up through India I still thought it was totally mental! Thankfully, I didn't get ill in 6 weeks of Indian cookery, maybe partially due to the fact that I became an honourary vegetarian! Thank the lord... Look forward to comparing notes on India when you both get home.
Smiling in the face of adversity. Loved the VIP bus photo of you both behaving like mischievous children-David all smug and smiling having spent all his pocket money on goodies and Liouse in hysterics, like she's done something her parents shouldn't know about, cheers me up no end considering the last blog depicting all those nasty injuries.
hope(hummm) the lack of soap didn't result in you getting many a cold shoulder(read between the lines i'm being extremely cryptic). There's nothing worse than a McDonalds 'deflated' burger. Sorry you had such an awful time.
Great aerial views of the city with the towers dwarfing everything in sight. cant wait to see your next blog on '...landing in unknown territory.'
Going back to thee smiling photo above, i'm still laughing. To me the best photo to date. Love you heaps, Jimmy.
Hiya David and Louise. I'm really sorry you had that awful accident on the motorbike, your knee looks really painful Louise! Glad you're on the mend though and what a place to recuperate! That beach looks stunning. The picture of Louise with the cat even brought a lump to my throat! David, that photo of you and Michael ready to go caving really made me chuckle- it's quite a catalogue pose. Belated happy new year and I hope your journeys continue to amaze us boring buggers at home. Missing you! Jen x
Shock Dear David and Louise - I just got Louise's message about subscribing to your blog (please excuse my ignorance of all things technical regarding the website- this has now been remedied) and read about your accident. Bloody hell, - I had no idea that the Christmas and New Year period had been so rough on you guys- and I was pretty upset to hear about what has happened. Hope you are both on the mend now and can look foward to some more peaceful and pleasant times ahead in the weeks to come. It's also good to hear that Michael and Amanda have been looking after you along the way.
Take it easy the both of you and look after each other - also, David, I agree with previous comments the beard was indeed, excellent.
Lots of love,
Chris
Fantastic!!! June gave me your website to view. What a exciting year you are having. You must publish a book on these travels. Some of the photographs are spectacular. Must show to Bob. Gay
The good, thebad and the not so good. Hi! you two, I hope you are well after your respective ordeals. I've read both journals recently submitted and I do feel for you both. I've saved all your photos depicting sad times but there were also many good times not so disimilar to back home-The Monkey Bar, how very British-football,how very youthful and most importantly your fantastic friends Michael and Amanda who were with you throughout. Take good care of yourselves and mind how you go. Loved the cats Louise and David I do prefare you without a beard. love you bothxxxx.
Sunsets and gory pictures Loving the sunset pics - are you SURE you took them - they are some of the best photos I've ever seen! I'm not so keen on the graphic medical images - you should issue a health warning to your readers! I also laughed my head off at the picture of david's extremely dodgy moustache - ever thought of a career in erotic european films David? As always, keep it coming, love from Laura xxx
a bit of a tear-jerker! We had been waiting for this part of the trip with trepidation having been on the receiving end of the tearful phone call. Thanks for sparing us the gory medical photos! Louise with the cat and plastered nose brought a lump to the throat and a smile to our faces!
Asia-Laos and Prebang I am writing in response to your recent blog and your not so typical coach trip. I can just imagine you both running shouting 'stop! stop!', must have have put a dint in your belief in humankind. I'm pleased you later met Bridgit and Jean Mark, if you're still in touch say 'hi!' to them from me I hope your French was up to the task. I see that Alex is with you as well, may as well say 'hi!' to him as well, you both look so happy in the Lao pub, just what the doctor ordered. Ket looks like a fab guy, just the sort of guide you needed.
Now for the photos 'A typical village scene'-quite medieval in content. 'The byke crew'-more exotic and all three looking great. Another threesome 'The trekking crew'-where's your camera David? Nice to see you really getting into the spirit of the occasion. 'The Linta tribespeople'-I'm pleased they took good care of you inspite of their spartan existence 'great people' 'A child in traditional dress'-who was it that said 'You've never had it so good', I can't remember, whoever it was must have visited Luang Nam and Nam Ha when making the comparison with the luxurious living standards here at home. 'Brushing our teeth on the river bank'-keep them healthy, I'm just about to lose another one of mine. Great photo of you both looking completely relaxed in the process.
Must stop now to give the other blog comments a chance to reach you before you get home. Take good care of yourselves and always remember, no matter how cloudy things seem, some do actually have a silver lining. I'm pleased David you you got your birthday card, just at the psycological moment .i.e, when it really mattered. Love you both very much. look forward to yor next blog. Love Jimmyxxxx
A typical day out in Vietnam Ah! seems that Vietnam got off to a bad start. The ugly face of capitalism has indeed reached Vietnam and to hell with the tourist as long as you are the tourist using, what seems to me on the face of it, to be one of the many crumby gueshouses on offer. Good on you both, yes! afun day instead while you are looking for somewhere to live seems a perfect distraction from the normal husstle and bustle of life in Vietnam, a far cry from the sleepy hollow you call St Albans.
I, pleased you had a great time at the water park although I'm trying not to think too hard about your choice of swimwear!
Not the most scenic part of your tour so far but I did enjoy Louise's Bhudist outfit as she walked through the ice house. David you on the other hand look quite worried sitting on the back of that moto, by the way where's your face mask? Never mind when all else fails Ther's still the corner shop!! Love you both keep your chins up I'm quite sure that the best is yet to come. Take care Xxxx
Belated Happy Christmas and New Year wishes! Hey guys, hope u both had a fab christmas and new year in Thailand, am looking forward to hearing about it! And where nexts, New Zealand? Make the most of that one, will prob seem tame after where you've been so far but its a beautiful and amazing place. Keep having fun and telling us all about it! Happy birthday for Thursday David! Claire xxx
June's work colleague I am having such a laugh reading your photo comments - some of them should be published! Loved the dam dam sign and the Nut packet! how funny! and the porridge!! Most amusing - better entertainment than on tv reading your blogs! I did not like any of the references about the dogs nor that photo - found that most upsetting and yes it has confirmed the way they feel about their animals..sadly. Apart from that keep up the good work and your photography is just amazing!
I work in the office with June! Here's wishing you both a very Happy New Year!! bet it's celebrated in a very different manner! I am thoroughly enjoying your travel log - love the photos and the funny comments! Your trip is really making me jealous!! You are having an amazing time! Looking forward to the next installment and hearing how and where you spent Christmas!
Merry Christmas I love reading your blog and must check it about twice a day on average to see if you've added anything new! Hope you're having a great time. Merry Christmas and thanks for keeping us all up to date.
Lots of love,
Karen xxx

Uplifting blog for Christmas What a lovely early Christmas present. We can just imagine you at the orphanage and in the local restaurant interacting with the locals - that sounds like the best bit of travelling. Happy New Year - nearly halfway!

Thank you!! Hello guys!
I came home today to a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much for the lovely T-Shirt (I opened it a little early than I should have, but it's certainly a cool Birthday and Christmas present)!! Hope that you are both well and safe and enjoying the road. Are you guys still in China?
My love to you both wherever you may be (I hope that it's warmer than here...) and have a wicked (alternative) Christmas!!
with love from Chrisxxx
chilled out in Pnom Penh continued: It's nice to see you looking so completely relaxed and well David. (see Ahhh! photo).
Just looking at the blog it seems to me, I may be wrong, that their is this most incredible family togetherness within the local community inspite of the obvious poverty. Anyone got a byke to sell or even share?
chilled out in Pnom Penh what with laid back pyjama-clad shoppers and chilled out guesthouse tennants, it's hard to imagine the terrible past the people of this contry have had to endure. It speaks volumes of the local people that they could even be friendly with the outside world which abandoned them in those terrible Pol Pot years. Any way it seems from your blog that the people have adapted and moved forward without fogetting their past suffering.
hi guys Hi guys!
Your trip looks absolutely amazing, I'm so glad you are having what seems to be such a mind-blowing experience! Great blogs and piccies. Bit concerned that all these years I may have been eating dog and not Tofu...! Lots of love from Lectern Lane : ) Liz xxxx
Chitwan national park loved your commenton the sumptuous meal you seemed to be enjoying. If you ask me you just don't seem to appreciate the great effort people went to to put food on the table. Anyone would think that the meal was all water and very little substance. Great blogs, great photos. It's also great to see you both having a fabulous time. I,ve just read your most recent blog mail, I will digest and get back to you (pardon the little pun). love from dear old blighty...ps. Wrap up well, looks a bit freeeezing (sorry my finger gt stuck on the 'e'!!) where you are or more accurately where you were. The road is long, the wall is high and Everest-what can I say? I,m sure you will have so much to talk about, this once in alifetime adventure, just don't let the old ladies boss you about too much. Love you both, always thinking about you. xxx
