After about 5 hours on the plane we arrived in Hong Kong's immaculate airport, and we felt like we were in a sci-fi movie after India and Nepal.
Our accomodation on our first night was less impressive. Our tiny room on the 13th floor of the infamous traveller's haunt 'Chungking Mansions' saved us enough money to hire a karaoke booth for the evening (great fun).
The next day we met our tour leader and group. We were delighted to discover that they were a young, friendly and international crowd. Later that night we went to see the fantastic light and sound show, where Hong Kong's skyscaper nightscape was lit up in a synchronised display. Afterwards, we took in the fabulous views across Hong Kong's harbour from the top of the Peak Tram ride.
The next morning we got up early for a full day of travelling, into the real China.
