Europe & Middle East Trip

North America » United States April 20th 2010

We hate that we never wrote any more on here until now because Egypt & Israel were our absolute FAVORITE places we went on our entire 40 day trip!! Basically what happened was we bought a one way ticket from New York City to Dublin, Ireland and never purchased a return ticket so that left us with the option of going almost anywhere we wanted at the end of the trip. While in Vernazza, Italy, the room we stayed in had a huge world map which we spent a lot of time staring and coming up with ideas. We contemplated going to several places after Italy before coming home and here were our top 4 picks of where to go next (next, as in just 4 days later haha): Option #1 was to go to Beijing, ... read more

Sorry we havent been able to update in a few days, but finding a place with internet can be difficult in some of the places we have been. No worries though, we are safe and sound! The last day we updated you i believe we were about to leave Rome. We spent the last day in Rome just roaming around. I remember when Amber and I turned 16 and started driving on our own, Amber's dad told us that as long as we had a full tank of gas we were never really lost, we were just wandering! I think we took that advice to heart. We are so glad that we decided not to take any sort of a guided tour because we have so much more fun finding things on our own. Sure we ... read more

Hey everyone! We made it to Italy yesterday afternoon and we're having a great time.. here's an update from the last time we wrote on here... BARCELONA: We had the best time here. We spent most of our time on the beach and sleeping which was really nice because we were needing it! On our last day here (Friday) we went up this mountain that overlooks the beach and the entire city. We walked around for a long time trying to figure out where the cable cars were that would take us to the top was and we came across the Olympic Stadium which was pretty cool to see. We finally found the cable cars and we went up to the top and there was a castle like thing that we walked around in. After we ... read more

Last night after updating this thing we went to sleep.. and woke up 11 hours later!!! All of this traveling is catching up to us! After we woke up we spent half the day doing what we love do¡ng most.. at the beach getting tans. (Becky- I got you some rocks!!) After this we went to a restaurant that was really fancy. We recognized one thing on the menu we both liked: Chicken!! When it came out there was something on our plate that we could not figure out what it was. Even after disecting it and Sam bravely taking a bite, we still didn´t know what it was!! We´ll be putting up some pictures so if anyone can tell us what it is, please do haha. When we finished eating, we wandered around the city. ... read more

Hey everyone!! It´s a little after 10pm here and we just got back to the place were staying. We´ll give you a little more details about the past few days: AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS: We spent 2 nights here and we stayed on a houseboat. Our room was tiny (8x8) and we had a little porthole for a window. Surprisingly, this turned out to be the best place we had stayed yet. We couldn´t pronounce or remember the name of the lady who owned the boat, so we just called her "Happy Boat Lady" because she was so friendly. The people in Amsterdam are "bike riding machines" we have decided. There were literally thousands of bicycles in this town, they even had a parking garage devoted to nothing but bike parking. We nearly got ran over numerous times. ... read more

Quick update... we just got to our hostel in Barcelona and its after 2 am here so we´ll update tomorrow sometime with more details. We woke up at 5am this morning (Tuesday) in Amsterdam, took a 2 hour train ride to Brussels, Belgium, then flew from Brussels down to Barcelona, Spain... 3 countries in one day- we are beyond tired!!! Our flight got delayed because it was storming in Brussels so we got here even later then we expected. We took a bus from the airport to the center of town, then we took a cab down to our hostel since it was so late and we didn´t have a good map of the area. The place we are staying at is really nice and its very unique. We´ll tell you more about it tomorrow and ... read more

Quick update-- We made it to Amsterdam, so far we really like it!! Unfortunately its raining = We were going to spend a few hours at the library updating this but every computer was full. Luckily the woman at our "Boatel" (Yeah were staying on a house boat!! and we LOVE IT!!) is nice enough to let us use her laptop. We'll update a little more later when the library isn't full. -Am & Sam ***UPDATED JUNE 8, 2009***** Yesterday was our first day in Amsterdam. We had a 5 hour train ride from Paris, which seemed like it took forever. Soon as we got off the train we spotted a Burger King. We were soooo excited to see some familiar food so we went straight in and got the biggest cheeseburger we could get. We ... read more

Hey Everyone!! First off, Im at an internet cafe in Paris and NONE of the keys on the keyboard are in the same place as what they are on our keyboards back home (and some arent here at all!!) so this is going to be short since its taking forever to find the right keys (and overlook any random letters or other symbols that might be on here when I post this). I was planning to upload the pictures from Ireland/London/Paris but there isnt a place to plug in my memory card so ill try to do it later if i can a different place with internet. Just wait till you hear about our day yeterday.. briefly heres how it went: got off train; went to our hostel; had to leave our bags in a dungeon; ... read more
