Great journal Donna, I've been reading "Turkey blogs" in advance of an extended stay there this summer. I'm so glad that I finally came across yours as I was beginning to think all English-speaking tourists there were 20-somethings who were more concerned about discos and bars than anything else. Thanks for the research and thoughtful comments. Enjoy the rest of your trek!
Quick trips It looks like you are beginning to squeeze in a few extra before heading back to Canada. Any idea of ETA or did I miss that? The little history re your trip to France and the photos are very welcome. Take care - Selma
Another great experience! Donna I have finally caught up with your last two trips. They both sound (and look) great. Your experience just proves how important it is to "see for yourself". Seeing these places hthrough your eyes has been a great experience. I'm sure I am not alone in looking forward to your return and then to hear even more. Keep on moving travelling lady. - Selma
I love France! Hi again,
I agree, traveling in Turkey as a woman doesn't seem to be a problem. I think there are a lot of misconceptions and fear about muslim countries. They are not all the same.
I have been to France three times, and I loved each trip. I too have found French people, even Parisians, to be nice and welcoming. Again, there are a lot of misconceptions.
I did not have a chance to go to Versaille on any of my trips to France, so I especially enjoyed your pictures!

I love Turkey Hi Jen, Thanks for contacting me. I visited Morocco twice--couple of years ago and about 20 years ago. You are right, fabulous country. Funny how many people told me that going to Turkey would be a mistake--woman on her own in a Muslim country. I couldn't have been treated better. Even better--it is still a bargain. thanks again, Donna
It's the end result that counts Hi Donna
Sad that you had to cancel your cruise which was a good idea. On the other hand the end result has been a wonderful new experience. The Danube looks wonderful and so do you. The trip has obviously treated you well. It sounds like you are enjoying yourself which is most important. Have a great time in Turkey while we over here enjoy ours.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR - Selma
Best Blog on Eastern Europe Hello, Donna,
Thanks for writing a great blog... you provide a lot of information, just what I've been looking for. I am 60 years old, and am going to Romania with the Peace Corps in February 2007. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts!

It cetainly gives you (and those of us receiving it) a different idea of the what and how. I hope to hear from you before the Holidays but if not have a wonderful time. - Selma
Eye Openers... It's good to hear from you! You are gaining such insight into the lives of ordinary people who who survived the trials and tribulations of a difficult time in history. Such insight you would not gain from a textbook - what a great experience. Hope you are keeping well.
Take care and do keep in touch.
