I'm Elena and the journey of my life would be in Peru, to walk the Inka trail. Beside this, in no particular order come New Zeeland, Tibet, Egypt, Israel.....I promise you'll all know when that happens!

Update: Due to the increasing number of Africans I have met & become friends with throughout 2009, Nigeria, South Africa & Cameroon are new on top of my travel destinations. Thank you all for showing me your world, culture & customs... I am only starting to learn about all that & plan to improve my knowledge. Na so e bi!

PS: after 2 years in a multinational company, I realized that my full time job (M - F / 8 AM to 10 PM) doesn't allow me to travel as much as I wish. Hoping for the best, have fun people!

PS 2: Lots of work, too much clubbing & less traveling kept me away :) ... 2010 Resolution: Taking each thing at a time & planning to update my travel blog!

PS 3: It's 2012!!! Shame on me, I have not update this travel blog in quite a while ...
btw: where did 2011 disappear!

Only after I booked my flight for Spain I realised than on my return I will have a stopover of 12 hours in Schiphol airpoirt. So I've start checking the forecast (which wasn't very joyful), the easiest way from the airpoirt to the city and a few boat trips offers. My KLM flight landed around 9 AM and as I going towards the tickets machines I've realised I am not the only one who was feeling lost: the machines work only with card, no cash option, the menu was confusing and although it was in front of my eyes, I couldn't see the tickets office. Finally I spot the big queue, decide to buy a ticket for normal train which cost me around 7,5 euro roundtrip and less than 20 minutes later I was in Amsterdam ... read more

Señoras y señores, bienvenido a bordo del tren Altaria con destino Albacete-Murcia-Cartagena That's the first thing I always hear after boarding from Atocha train station is Madrid. When we decided to go to Murcia, Renfe turned out to be the best option as the confort is an important criteria. Though the train tickets are a bit expensive especially when compare to bus tickets, I rather spend the 4 hours ride from Madrid to Murcia watching comedy movies on tv, having enough space to strech my legs & even sleep in the comfortable big seat. To get an idea, while the bus ticket is around 20 euro (6 hours ride), the train ticket costs 45. We found out it's better to buy roundtrip, as we will benefit of a discount (50% of the return ticket, except the ... read more

It's finally that time of the year... = Yeah, yeah, I know not everybody gets into the Christmas & New Year spirit! So? What do I know? 1st of December it's always a great day for 2 reasons: - begining of winter holidays (for those who love snow, the sledges, traffic jams and so on) - and due to the fact that on 1st December we celebrate Romania's National Day (actually this year we are celebrating 90 years since the great union in Alba Iulia) ... as you guessed that means free day/no work and fortunately this year 1st of December was in a Monday = 3 days off work. During this weekend we also had elections (on Sunday - 30 November) and in my oppinion who ever thought of setting the election day then either ... read more

Ever since I know Monica she was telling us stories about her summer vacantions spent in Borsec and promising us that someday she ll take us there just to have a taste of her paradise. First thing that comes in my mind when you say Borsec is the bottled mineral water winner of a gold medal for carbonated waters. I also knew that Borsec was a great tourist destination 20 years ago because of the natural mineral water springs and I might have been with my parents when I was 3-4 years old.... little have I known! Last week was her birthday and instead of partying in a club or dinner in a restaurant, we packed our bags and Friday morning we were on our way to Borsec. Borsec is located in North-Eastern part of Romania ... read more

Ok, as I already thought, things never go exactly as you plan them. Due to technical problems (this pc of mine seems to be older than I am - and I am not getting any younger either = ) I couldnt upload my pics from the last days of travel around Sibiu. Finally here I am, hoping that I ll finish what I've started a few weeks ago. Although the plan was to visit most of the saxon fortified churches around Sibiu, Friday a few friends from Agnita and UK invited us on a fishing trip (70 km away from Sibiu) near the small village of Bradeni. Of course we planned to visit the churches from Agnita & Bradeni but also enjoy our time in the nature. Well, after the Medias experience we were all exhausted. ... read more

The next day we were planning to take the bus to Medias, then from there the bus to Biertan and after visiting the village we would have walked 5 km till the next village, Richis... but because the night before we arrived at the hotel after 11 PM, waking up early in the morning wasnt so easy. Actually we've missed the 11 AM bus to Medias only by 5 minutes. So we decided to take the 12:57 train but after I ve done some calculation our time wasnt enough. The train ride was quite interesting, its been a while since I traveled with the personal train (this train stops in every little station and its driven in slow speed). The ticket costs around 1,5 Euro and it takes 1 hour and a half to get to ... read more

Perfect timing for a short summer holiday. We had the greatest weather, although the last month it has been raining all over the country. For a long time I was planning to visit the saxons fortified churches. In Transylvania there are a lot of them, some very well preserved and famous, others very close to become ruins. After I've done some research, I printed the maps and tried to establish an itinerary. We had only 4 days to acomplish this mission. As usual things dont go exactly as you plan them. What have we managed so far: Day 1 - Sibiu - Cisnadie - Cisnadioara Day 2 - Sibiu - Medias - Biertan Day 3/4 - Sibiu - Agnita - Bradeni Returning to Sibiu I found the city with a new look. A lot of construction ... read more

Hi guys, long time no see! Well what about last weekend? Did I ever said NO to a mountain trip invitation? So let’s summarize: last Friday I resigned my current job! After a quick gathering with some friends we all agreed I need to get out of the city and relax my mind after such stressful decision. Its end of May and the mountain area is best get away! Saturday at 7 o’clock in the morning we all were in front of train line No 9 waiting the ride to Busteni. I havent slept all night but I hardly waited to get there. After a 3 hours journey here we are! The air is so fresh, people r soooo calm and the sun is shining! The weather forecast man said that it will be cloudy - ... read more

Incredible Romania! What makes summer a good summer? Hot weather, time on your side, sea, sand, getting a tan or even sunburnt and nothing would be so fun without close friends to share all that with. Well we didn’t have much time on our side just an extended weekend as we decided to catch the Friday evening bus towards Constanta. So we arrived at the bus station around 7:15 PM where we found more than 200 people waiting to get on the same bus. The buses were scheduled to leave every 30 minutes but we realised we have no chance to board on the one from 7:30 PM. Not long after we arrived I noticed that some guys who came after us were already on the 7:30 bus so how can that be possible? Well that’s ... read more
