The Visiting Wanderer
Visiting Wanderer
I like things to be simple. I’m not into fancy hotels or dining at expensive restaurants. I’d be much happier pitching a tent and cooking burgers over an open fire than doing those things. Being outdoors is a way to find contentment that cannot be found in the hustle of our daily lives. When planning road trips, I look for places that look like they will bring some form of peace and bring me closer to a center.
Travel brings tremendous challenges because I have to deal with G. A. D. (General Anxiety Disorder). It can take simple things, such as driving, and make them near impossible to do. I barely drive anymore because if there is a lot of traffic or it is in a big city I will have a panic attack. The mere thought of navigating through busy airports and worrying about messing up something with security causes a lot of anxiety, which means that, thus far, I have avoided them. It is severely limiting in the places I can go and any experience I may have had.
Although it slows me down, it is not stopping me. I want to travel more throughout the United States and eventually backpack through Malaysia and Thailand. Each day is just one-step at a time, and when a setback comes it means working twice as hard, and that is what I plan to do.
Visiting Wanderer will be my journey, not only throughout the world, but also in finding myself. It will be where I find the strength and determination to chase the dreams I was always too afraid to go for. I hope you will join me on the journey.
