Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787After a great trip to Malta we headed back to Ramsgate. We did not get back into Ramsgate until 11 at night. We headed straight for Ken and Debbie's home. We arrived to a warm reception and an amazing late night feast. It was so good to see or friends and catch up with them. Since we moved from Ramsgate Ken and Debbie got a English Bull Dog named Hendrix. He is the most lovable little guy ever. We went to Thai Orchid restaurant the next night to get our favorite lamb mango. It tasted even better than I remembered. Sunday night Debbie made Sunday roast dinner and boy was it a treat. Monday morning I got up early and headed for the train station to get into London early. I went to Brew ... read more

Geo: 35.9375, 14.3754Monday morning Phil and Lianne came to picked us up and we were off to Stansted airport to catch our Ryan air flight to the Island of Malta. Upon arival we got our rental car and drove to our rental apartment in Buggibba. We got a beer and found a restaurant were we got dinner (rabbit and octopus). The next morning Phil and I had a reservation for a tour of Malta's one and only brewery, Farsons. They produce a few ales, Chisk Lager and several soda pops. The brewery was made up of the old brewery and the new. They were just about to change production completely over from the old brew house to the new one and we were the last visitors that would be through the old brew house. We got ... read more

Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787After our long journey we were thrilled to be back in Ramsgate. Ruth made us a yummy dinner and we were off to the Monty for a pint. Eddie, Graham and Chris joined and made it feel like we never left. The morning came in a hurry and I was off to The Ramsgate Brewery to brew the next in the line of the Conspiracy brews. Left Coast Conspiracy. An American hopped pale ale. After the brew was transferred to the FV and the copper was scrubbed clean, the brew day was complete and we were off for the Ramsgate pub crawl with the gang. It was a mix of our old favorites and one new pub. The beer was flowing and tasting great. It was so great to be back in the old ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245Kim and I had a afternoon at the LA County Fair with my Dad and his wife Donna. This is the first time we had been to the LA fair and it was not a let down. It had all the regular farm animals, rides, midway, and food. The difference is since we had last been to a big fair like this, the deep fry everything craze had gone overboard. If you can put it in the deep fryer they were selling it at the LA county fair. I tried to take photos of all the crazy deep fried madness.... read more

Geo: 32.7977, -117.132The Third Friday of every month there is a gathering of gourmet food trucks in the parking lot of a huge wine store in San Diego. This is not you dads roach coach that we all know. No no, this is some true gourmet eats. We were blow away by the selection of food available. I tried to take some photos of the menus so we could share them with you. After much deliberation I settled on a crab cake sandwich which was amazing. Kim decided on two beef sliders and Parmigiano seasoned fries. These were not regular sliders but a slice of perfectly cooked, grass fed, on a small sweet bun with a little blue cheese and some fresh rocket. We enjoined a glass of Anderson Valley IPA (Hop Salad) Yummy. For desert ... read more

Geo: 32.7157, -117.162We got to our new home and were happy to get out of the truck. After driving up to Northern Michigan to get stuff I had stored at my moms house then spending 6 days driving from Michigan to San Diego I calculated that I drove enough miles to cover the entire distance across the USA from the east coast to the west coast. It is an amazing country that is filled with views, attractions and people that are well worth seeing. There are amazingly huge areas of nothingness. You can look at a map and get an idea of how big an area is but until you drive it you just really don't know how big it actually is. I think everyone should take the time once in their life to drive across ... read more

North America » United States » Arizona » Flagstaff May 28th 2011

Geo: 35.1982, -111.651The elevation of flagstaff is higher than the rest of the state so the flora was different than the rest of the state. Lots of pine trees. It reminded us more of Northern Michigan than Arizona. This was our last day of driving. We hit the road early heading south through Phoenix then along the USA / Mexico boarder over the mountains into San Diego. As we got closer to the mountains the wind was blowing hard and we were driving straight into it. As we began to climb the mountains in this rolling storage locker the steep incline slowed us down to 30 mph several times. We finally made it through the mountains and we got to our new house right on schedule.... read more
