Geo: 46.4589, 6.84716As we arrived in Vevey the sun was shinning and we were looking across Lake Le Leman at France. We checked into our hotel and took a stroll around the waterfront and old town. As we walked on the down the waterfront we noticed that lots of the flower beds had been planted with garden vegetables. What a great idea. We found a open pub and enjoyed a beer before eating dinner. The next morning the weather was glorious with blue sky's and puffy clouds. Our weekend in Switzerland was over but we had a great time. This was the cleanest country we have ever visited and while an expensive place we have never meet more welcoming and friendly people.... read more

Geo: 46.6245, 8.0343Although Grindelwald was just the next valley over it was far more touristy. When we first drove into town we saw some small gondolas traveling from the valley floor up the mountain. At one point we could look up through the clouds and see a glacier on the mountain. After driving through town we decided to go find out more information on the gondola lifts up the mountain. We discovered that the lift was just the first of 3 that would take you up to the top of the mountain. Because there was still a some low clouds I did not want to go up further then we could see down. The first stop was where we were off to. If you are not aware...Kim has a little thing about heights. So this was ... read more

Geo: 46.5949, 7.90749Kim found this great hotel in the valley town of Lauterbrunnen. There are a total of 72 waterfalls cascading off the mountain face in this valley. The largest of these waterfalls, Staubbach falls, was a close walk from our hotel. After walking through town and checking out of the Staubbach Falls close up we went to have a dinner. We wanted to have a true Swiss meal of Fondue and we were not disappointed. Accompanied by a tall glass of German beer this was an amazing meal. After dinner we made our way down to the pub to watch the second half of the America vs. England world cup match. Team America...Fuck Yeah! The next morning we had a great Swiss breakfast at the hotel (pretzels for breakfast, yum!) and drover further into the ... read more

Geo: 46.6855, 7.8559 As we got into Interlaken we could see some para-gliders floating in from the mountains toward the center of town. We walked thought the town center and eventually found a nice pub where we sat outside and enjoyed a pint of beer. While we sat enjoying we saw more para-gliders, one after another, circling around town and landing near by. After we finished our beers we continued walking through town and found a large field where the para-gliders were landing. We watched a new group of para-gliders run off the top of the mountain and float around overhead before coming in for a soft landing. It was great fun to watch and made me jealous that I was not one of them. We heard a low drowning noise coming for near by and ... read more

Geo: 46.948, 7.44821 Originally we were planning on starting the day with a trip to the top of Mt. Titlis. This trip takes you on three different lifts to get to the summit. The last lift turns 360 degrees while traveling up to give you a full view. When we woke up the sky was gray and it had been raining. We checked the web cam from the Mt. Titlis and you could not see a thing. The price was very expensive to go to the summit. While I did not mind spending a small fortune to see this amazing view, I was not about to spend the money to see nothing. Since the mountain summit trip was out we had some free time so we decided to check out the Swiss capital city of Bern. ... read more

Geo: 47.0457, 8.30824After our short stop in Liechtenstein we drove on to the city of Lucerne. We checked into the Hotel Alpha parked the car and relaxed for a few minutes before heading into town for a pint. The hotel was clean and great and even had a small balcony. The pub we were planning on going to was on the other side of the Reuss River so it gave us a great reason to walk across the covered Chapel Bridge. This covered wooden bridge built in 1333 is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. Chapel Bridge was designed to help protect the city of Lucerne from attacks. Inside the bridge are a series of paintings from the 17th century, depicting events from Luzerne's history. Much of the bridge, and the majority of these paintings, ... read more

Geo: 47.3415, 8.51946Since Kim had to be in Geneva for work on Monday we figured we would go Friday morning so we could spend the weekend in Switzerland. After very little sleep we awoke at 2:30 am for the ride to the airport. We got to Zurich airport and got our rental car. Our first stop...The tiny country (Principality) of Liechtenstein. Why? Why not. We were only a hour and a half drive away so off we went. ... read more

Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787 June 5th was the 11th anniversary of Kim and I getting married. It seems like just yesterday. Boy time flies when your having fun. On our anniversary, I usually take Kim out for a nice dinner and get her a small present. This year I was having a hard time finding that certain something special. So instead of buying her another piece of jewelry that she would not wear I decided to take her for several surprises that I thought she would enjoy. Saturday afternoon we hopped in the car and drove into Sandwich to take a boat ride down the Stour river in hopes of seeing some seals. This is something we have wanted to do for a long time but for what ever reasons we had not done. The boat ride ... read more

Geo: 51.1756, 0.753484Kim has been doing work on her family tree and after hitting some dead ends with her family she spent some time working on the Skinner line. After doing some research she discovered that my great, great, great grandfather was from Kent England and lived in the village of Pluckley. Last Saturday we packed up the dog in the car and drove over to see the motherland. As we were getting close to Pluckley we came across the ruins of St. Mary's church in Little Chart. We decided to stop and investigate. It turns out that this church was hit by a German V1 rocket (Doodlebug) and destroyed. After investigating the ruins we decided since we were so close to Pluckley that we would check the grave stones to look for any Skinners. Due ... read more
