I can’t believe that I started climbing the mountain almost 3 weeks ago! Things started out great. I met 2 of my team mates in the Amsterdam Airport and immediately we hit it off. Sorry for the lack of updates! This is the first computer I've found with internet access! This has to be brief because I'm boarding my flight to Zanzibar in about 10 minutes! The mountain climb was amazing...can't wait to give you the details! It was definitely the most challenging thing of my life! The Safari was also amazing! What fun this has been so far! After getting some much needed sleep (in the hotel room) I got out for a bit. I went to a cafe, took the tram to Dam Square and purchased a ticket for the night time canal tour. I had dinner outside in a cute restaurant with traditional Holland fare. I ate poached salmon with gouda cheese sauce, served with some sort of saurkraut vegetable thing and steamed asparagus. The night tour was beautiful, and although I was out late, I felt very safe! I made it! After an emotional goodbye I had a great flight over the Atlantic to Amsterdam. I haven't slept yet and am soooooooooooo tired! Unfortunately my hotel isn't letting me check in early :( Once I gathered my luggage I found a ticket booth selling hotel transfers. I got a great deal for $22 Euro with a transfer back to the airport on Tuesday morning. The hotel lobby is super small so there isn't really room for me to sit here...but there aren't really any other options! It's amazing how empty the streets are. This has been one crazy week trying to get ready but finally my bags are packed. I got my hair done last week and manicure and pedicure today...I think I'm ready to go! Well here I am...less than a week to go! I still can't believe that this big adventure which started over a year ago is about to happen. This year has been busy, emotional and satisfying.
