One week later....... No luggage. What we know.... The suitcase left Nanjing and arrived in Guangzhou. Then it went on to France. From there we aren't too sure.... But, the suitcase is not in Venice. So where is it? Vacationing in Paris without me? Back to the suitcase. So I more or less decided to put all of my most important things into my luggage, so when I arrive I have everything that I need. A cross stitch to keep me occupied over the next few weeks. Clothing. Shoes. Makeup. Paperwork. Bits a pieces to start making jewelry and bags. Sheets for the bed. My YETI. Everything that I wanted with me is in that suitcase. So...... The packers have packed and gone. 10am until 6pm of pure stress and relief that everything has been packed and was on its way to the new life. But, I didn't recheck the cupboards....... big mistake. Left behind the printer and the pasta machine. The printing cartridges have gone but with no printer. And the pasta machine that I so needed but never used, but I suppose I am moving to Italy so who needs a pasta machine? Right? So a word of warning when you move.... check the cupboards, and then check them again. A friend is moving right now, as I am writing and I have just sent her a messages saying just that. Its a rainy day and just perfect to be saying goodbye to friends. The mood is already gloomy and grey. Reflecting on good times spent in Nanjing. The craziness that we have experienced together in this amazing but crazy place. Looking forward to the future when we will meet again, somewhere in the real world and catching up on the good and bad times. Tears are shed and smiles are exchanged knowing that the important people..... you will meet again. Life is odd..... and then you become an expat and you experience an even more crazier world. Everyone experiences these changes very different.... but I know deep down the people that have touched your heart we will see again. Maybe it hurts too much to say goodbye?
