Geo: 45.8176, 8.8263814th July Sacro Monte Unesco of Varese. We stayed the night and had time to tour the city on the top of the hill. There are lots of steps and amazing views. There are alleyways and tunnels everywhere. It was like we had just gone back in time. It was a really odd experience. It's amazing and is really worth the trip driving up the hill and then walking through the ancient city to see the amazing views. We had to park below and walk up to the hotel. The pizzas are large but best of all the views are amazing.... read more

Geo: 45.4637, 9.1881313th Milano Milano is a very big city and we had a friend of ours, that lived in Nanjing, was back home for the holidays so we met up with her in Milano. We met up in town at the famous book store La Feltrinelli. From there you can see the famous green apartment block Bosco Verticale - green vertical towers is 27-stories high and is the home to the world's first vertical forest. We had lunch at her house and then she took us to a really cool Art Gallery. Biococca Hanger. It was an industrial Work Site that has been transformed into an amazing space. Unfortunately it was closed but the side door was opened so we snuck in. I am so glad we did. There had been a private function the ... read more

Geo: 45.0116, 7.8225811th ChieriThis little town is very sweet. At night we would go out and sit in the cobble stone Main shopping Street that was filled with small tables and chairs. Each bar had its different colored seats and tables. We would order drinks.... Usually a spritz and with that you received a small plate of food. All different antipasto. Small ravioli, pizza, olives, grilled vegetables, egg, salami, grilled fish and even rice salad. Each place had a different selection. So really you just had to order drinks because the food was enough for dinner.... read more

Geo: 44.2406, 7.3975810th July Entraque. We went for a drive up into the hills to see a sleepy little village that my husband used to live in when he was very young. We happened to find road works on the freeway which took a while and then there was a bike race. Roads where closed off with diversions which slowed down the whole trip but the scenery was beautiful. When we finally did arrive we walked around and went to see the dam that my husbands father worked on. The town is very small with lots of narrow winding streets and all of them up hill.... read more

Geo: 44.6104, 7.942589th July Barolo This is a wine region. There are acres and acres of vine yards. It reminded me a bit of the Barossa back home. We went to the WiMu. Museo del Vino - The Wine museum. It's very dark, artistic, interactive and an interesting take on the history of wine. There are various floors and a great look out over the whole area. We found a slightly opened door that lead us to the roof and a small balcony and the views from here where amazing. Our teenaged daughter had a ball. It was defiantly an experience. ... read more

Geo: 44.7009, 8.035269th July Alba We arrived Saturday morning to find the local market filling the streets. It really added to the experience. The city square was filled with little shops selling almost everything. We went to eat at one of the best restaurants in the area..... (So we where told) that just happened to be in the town square right in front of the church. The menu was limited but it felt like you where eating at your aunts house but only with waiters and fancy plates. We stayed for coffee and watched the market stall owners pack up all of their wares. It must be a very hard job unpacking and then packing back up every day.... read more

We were collected by our guide and ate Hohhot Hotpot with lots of lamb. It was a Friday night and it was very quiet at 10:30pm. I asked why?He replied, “Its cold and the Mongol people wake up early so everyone is home early and ... read more
