Watashi? Aussie, female, late twenties, retiring english teacher and about to escape to Europe and Asia for some adventure before the inevitable return to my real world back home. This is my first attempt at a blog and I have really lost the ability to express myself clearly, in the past 3 years in Japan I haven't done much writing. So here goes...
The massage course is finished it was wonderful but very demanding mentally and physically i don't want to be massaged again for at least a few weeks. ... read moreBack in Chiang Mai again, last week I started a thai massage course, its going well but its very tiring and hard ...my brain almost exploded last week as we were taught about 134 positions in 5 days. This week I am practising and trying to get better at it. Probably gonna stay here next week, depending on my performance and enthusiasm.

Went to the weekend markets, got some new clothes which i desperately needed. Send my winter clothes and europe souvenirs back home making my pack much lighter. Looked in my guidebook for cheap things to do that i haven't done yet, and saw the forensic museum. So M and I went there, well i was lucky that i hadn't eaten cause it is very graphic and overhelming.

Arrived at Sungai Kolok train station and I asked for 2 sleepers with air cond and the thai guy just laughed. We didn't realise that there were 2 public holidays coming up and all the sleepers were booked up. So we got 3rd class tickets with fan for the 22 hour journey costing 240baht ($A7) . Later we realised that we were so lucky to even get seats, as the trip went on, kids started sleeping under seats, men and women who couldn't get seats were lying down on newspaper on the floor in a pool of sweat and I was climbing over bodies to get to the toilet. The train stopped at almost every station up the east

M just did his advanced level certificate and keeps telling me how great it is but i am just not a water baby! Got the fast boat back to the mainland and a taxi to Kota Bharu. Kota Bharu has majority muslim population and very friendly. Just wandered around the town, got some photos of the interesting characters in the town. Decided to go to Thailand soon.

Along the way the driver asked if anyone wanted to see hot springs, i declared no way, i have seen enough of them in Japan but everyone else was keen. So they all got out and had a look, i stayed in the minibus. Later the driver asked everyone for 1MR fee for looking at the hot springs. Very cheeky cause they were free to look at and he certainly didn't own them. Arrived at Tok Bali at 4pm, to be told that we missed the slow boat and we had to pay another 10MR for the fast boat, everyone

Stayed in these lovely little alumimum huts surrounded by lush tea plantations considerably cooler than KL. Perfect! I thought, however i got eaten alive by mozzies as there was no screens or nets provided. Eventually got to sleep, slept in and therefore missed the organised trips to the tea plantations and our options for independent hikes were pretty limited. The guesthouse staff were decidedly unfriendly and not exactly forthcoming with info, so we did a short hike by ourselves and that was the day gone. Went to the local shop to buy a mozzie net but they only sold this giant one and I am already carrying too much stuff so had another bad night. Decided
