Nous nous sommes levées tôt pour pouvoir aller a la banque avant nos cours de 9h. Après les cours nous avons marché dans le centreville et fait quelques visites. Nous avons visité le college national de Montserrat, une école secondaire construite par les Jésuites en 1687. La visite était plutôt ennuyante et on a regretté d'avoir fait cette visite! En soirée nous sommes allées à un bar et un club pour l'anniversaire d'un des professeurs. Bière à volonté pour seulement 8 pesos! (environ 2.5$ dépendant du taux de change) [View Full Entry]

Nous avons visité la "estancia" Santa Catalina. La estancia a été construite par les Jésuites à partir de 1622. Malheureusement les propriétaires de la estancia était de passage sur le site alors nous avons seulement pu vister l'église du site. C'est en fait la seule estancia privée d'Argentine. Sur les 100,000 hectares, les jésuites y élevaient 25,000 têtes de bétail: boeufs, moutons et mules pour le transport de marchandises. Nous sommes ensuite allés à Ongamira. Aujourd'hui était notre première journée à notre nouvelle école. Je n'étais pas vraiment contente de ma classe puisque nous étions un gros groupe (8 comparativement à 4 à Buenos Aires). L'après-midi nous avons fait un tour de ville organisé par l'école. Nous avons finalement retourné à l'école pour profiter du beau temps et de la piscine. [View Full Entry]

Cordoba Arrivée à la famille d'accueil à 10h00. Notre chambre est maintenant beaucoup mieux, avec une fenêtre et des lits «confortables» (comparativement à l'autre appartement). On a rencontré notre première coloc qui se nomme Malin et qui est Suédoise. Elle nous a montré comment nous rendre au centre-ville en autobus (je ne sais toujours pas si je vais survivre aux chauffeurs d'autobus fous d'Argentine!) et on a ensuite rencontré ses amis de l'école. We decided to spend an afternoon in Uruguay... we need more visa stamps in our passport and we wanted to get 2 extra stamps. We took the express ferry to a colonian town called Colonia del Sacramento. It was defnitely worth the trip. The historical part has been preserved intact since the colonial era. The district has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. We had some problems with the ferry company on our way back and had to argue to get our ticket (even if we had already paid). Elena decided to go shopping by herself in the morning (I'm apparently not the best shopping buddy... as I usually wait in front of the store..) I decided to visit la plaza del congresso, which is Argentina's equivalent of Canada's parliament. As usual, the building was closed for visit and I didn't have a change to visit it. The building was still impressive and well worth a look. Its architecture is similar to the congress structure in Washington D.C. I then headed to the Teatro Colon, which is the main lyric theater and a center for classical music, ballet & opera. [View Full Entry]

As usual Olga woke us up at 7:30am even if she knows we only have afternoon classes. After eating our crakers for breakfast we took the subway to go to Palermo with Elia. The Palermo neighbourhood comprises several parks, stores and restaurants. It reminded me la rue St-Denis but everything opens only at noon and then closes for most of the afternoon for the siesta. After school we headed back to Palermo to visit el museo de Arte Decorativo. The open hours seemed to have changed since the last time we checked on their website so we couldn't get in. Mercredi matin on a étudié dans un café Havanna. Since then on Elena cannot spend one day without visiting Havana. Je vais essayer de rapporter des Alfajores.
