I can't believe over 3 weeks have passed since I arrived in Labrador. It went by quick, but yet.. feels like Ive been here longer. I have so many stories I wish I could have told, but Im so busy having fun here. I started this post 10 days ago!! And never finished it. Recent News: - MY MOM IS GOING TO COMPETE AS PART OF TEAM CANADA AT THE 2010 ITU TRIATHALON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, in Budapest, Hungary next year!! Holy sweet mother of Joseph, I've never felt as proud of my mom as I do right now. I can't believe it. Mom, you need to hide your car keys for a week. Your bicycle needs your love. - I've been running, a lot. Every few days I get out. I havent dont that since I ... read more

The Labrador Highway is a living organism. Breathing, changing shape, conquering, evolving. Her skin is gravel, it moves, forms holes, washes out, needs to be continuously kept in line by graters and gravel trucks, or else, she would mutate certainly into the form she wants to be, The Labrador Wilderness. Lining the highway for over 1000 kilometers unbroken, the wild shrinks you, daunts you, manipulates you, does what it will with you. Gone are the comforts of medians, streetlights, painted lines and gravel. Nothing goes by this highway uneffected by it. We spent 2 solid days travelling from Baie-Commeau to Goose Bay; negotiating the massive potholes, loose turns, and sketchy logging truck near-misses. On our second day, an hour and a half and 120km in to our travel, the Hwy decided to kick us in the.. ... read more

Im heading North. Away from the knowns of Victoria. Away from friends, away from an amazing Longboarded-experience in Ottawa. Away from an amazing team of people in Nova Scotia, who now mostly all call themselves Katimavik Project Leaders. Im heading North. Today, to Baie-Comeau, tomorrow to Labrador City, and Wednesday to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, my new home. And, Im incredibly excited. Im excited for the gifts I have to share with my particpants. Im excited for the friends I have and will make up there. Im excited for the wilderness, the streams, and the Sub-Arctic Atlantic Ocean. This is a new place, with new people, and it will be my home for 10 months. I await for the difference of culture Ill experience. For the wilderness, the unscarred and unscathed landscapes, the mountains, the moose, dear, ... read more

This post has photos, but unfortunately they dont bring you up to date. So much bizzle has happened, with no posts.. so, it would take a wee while to write it all down. I made it to Victoria. Last day was 130+ kms from Hope through Langley to Tawassen. I received my first official puncture in 7000 km on this particular kind of tire, Schwalbe Marathon Plus's, right smack in the middle of Langley, during the hottest part of the day. It was tough. Since arriving to the open arms of my mom and eating her copious amounts of baked goods, I spent time with my brother Harrison, my Dad, my youngest brothers Steward, Andy, and Darien, my step-Mom Sue, my sisters Natalie and Angelena. After 3 sweet weeks on the coast, I've finally left, likely ... read more

Hey! Man, do I have stories to tell. Do I ever. Man! Jeeze! Here I am admist a bike trip, headed for now to Kelowna. Im meeting a friend here on the 10th (which is today, Ive met her) who Ive known for many years. She actually just spent a year in South America! But Ive had a nice journey getting here. It all started last Monday night. I rode 115km from Lake Louise to Golden, BC. In Golden, while shopping for a new front rack (my last one finally broke after years of abuse!), I bumped into a nice lady, and her son. Her son liked my bike, and asked me if I was the mailman, or if I was travelling. I said I was the mailman. Later, I was back on the highway when ... read more

And horses are blue. This is me, signing off from a normal life for a while. Im just about to get a lift with a friend into the Rockies, into Banff. Fromthere, itll be 5 days all by my lonesome, on my bike, through the mountains, until I hit Kelowna. Im about to do something Ive wanted to do for most of my walking, talking life. And on a slightly less epic note, I bought way too much food. I can barely fit it on my bike. See you n the flip side, wih pictures! Ty... read more

So here I am, the breaker of news. My plans changed, about biking around the world. For now. I have a job, instead. A guaranteed income, that will give me some savings. It starts Augest 16th. It starts in Halifax, NS. From arriving there, I travel 1 hour north to Truro, to do two weeks of training. Come the beginning of September, myself and 2 other staff will be driving 36 hours/1900km north from Truro to Goose Bay, Labrador, where I will be a Katimavik Project Leader, until next July. Holy crap. Holy crap. Im moving to Labrador. And I have a month and a half to kick it before then.. YEAH! New max. speed record for this year: 77.7km/h. Obtained in Saskatchewan of all places, who would have guessed. Saskatchewan, surprisingly, is actually full of ... read more
