One fun loving energetic 22 year old, a large backpack and a year long RTW ticket.....hummm, one feels a crazy adventure is in store!
After 3 years of 9-5 I’m escaping the daily routine of working life in central London. I’ve decided to leave my friends, family and comfort zone to embark on a year long trip around India, SE Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the US
Life’s too short to stand still and wait for others...its time to get out there, see the world and have some fun!
With me only having very little experience of skiing and Jacob none, we were both keen to get stuck in to a blanket of snow so headed to Wanaka, Oueenstown's junior sibling. Wanaka, an activity filled town but quieter than pumpin' Queenstown is wedged between awesome rolling hills and cliffs of the Mt Aspiring region. After a night in a few of the towns local watering holes we woke early and drove 30km out of town up to it's renowned ski resort of 'Treble Cone'. If we weren't awake as we set off that morning at 8am we sure were by the time we began the slow and terifying winding mountain road to the top. Lets just say thank god Jacob has the ability to be the most chilled out motherf*^ker I've ever come across because

With not much to do here, the drive actually being the highlight, we set off first thing to cover ground with an aim to slowly head down south before looping back up north along the west coast ending in the North Island. Over the next couple of hours we diverted slightly inland crossing into what’s known as Mackenzie country after the legendary James Mackenzie who ran his stolen flocks in this then uninhabited region in the 1840's. We took the 'scenic' route (frankly I wouldn't class any of New Zealand not scenic) through Mt Cook national park's eastern foothills. Along the way we parked up off road, pulled out our little

I began with 6 month travelling followed be six months of work in Melbourne so as my year away from London decends apone me, Jacob's email prompting us to begin the next chapter within my journey was timed to perfection. With little stress and only a few emails pinged between a life long friend and I, plans were put in place for a couple months travelling starting in New Zealand. I was more than happy to tell work i was taking to the road again. I couldn't wait to get beyond the four walls of a rather grey and shabby office, however,

Exciting things have been put in place and ive been a busy bee setting up a little life for myself in Melbourne. After a slight panic at discovering i’d maybe taken the whole 'relaxing' thing a bit too much to heart as I open my flight itinerary to find that dumb ass over here had totally missed her flight to Oz by a month...yes guys a month. Damn...and i had always prided myself on good time keeping. Anyway, low and behold im guessing im not the first to have slipped into the travel trance and a few pleads over the phone to the travel agent and all was back under control. So off i go to the land down

The ethnic diversity gives the city a great feel with it's various cultural customs, religious beliefs, languages, cuisines and architecture making it a really unique city with its mix of history entwined beneath the shadows of its skyscrapers and modern office buildings. The streets are bursting with life and even more so at the time of my arrival. Totally unplanned I arrived in Kuala Lumpur in time to catch the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations and the beginning of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam 'a test of faith'. Held in the Batu Caves on the outskirts of the city this annual 3 day festival is for Hindus of all

Lets just say it was one hell of a long ride. Eventually a bus load of us were left at the side of the road at 10pm hungry, tired and all rather grumpy. An English girl I got chatting to on the way down joined me with the lovely task of finding a room late at night. We turned down the well known 'Love Lane' and with lack of patience accepted a shoe box of a room consisting of a small space with artificial walls, no ceiling with nothing but two mattresses heaped on top of each other with bedding that blatantly hadn't been changed

It was a good feeling arriving in a familiar town. The place was certainly busier than when I first landed but it still held its charm and at the end of the day you have to appreciate the madness of the city for what it is. Nadav was also in town stocking up on a few things before heading North so we hooked up and did what we do best...hunt out the local markets and feast! We took the river boat down to China town and little India where we walked for miles ending in a massage centre for a

I could see it was going to capture me in a way Vietnam just wasn't able to. Once in town a few of us jumped into a tuk tuk and headed to the popular backpackers area by the river where I booked into a room for 5$ a night. That evening I befriended an Israeli guy who'd been travelling/living in Asia for the past 3 years. After hearing of his adventures over dinner I thought it wise to take advantage of his travel spirit and knowledge and so for the following week we hung out venturing through Cambodia together. In true crazy Israeli style the man challenged me to explore the capital city

When i arrived in this tiny coastal town mid way through Vietnam I definitely didn't think my plans to stay 4 days would turn into 4 weeks. But when Niamh, Maude, Turlough and I hopped off the bus from a rather dull and drizzily north Vietnam and stumbled across these cute huts precisely 30 Hannah size steps from the sea shore where I can hear the raw of the rough sea, where the sun shines continuously and with Christmas and New year creeping up we figured it'd be nice to be somewhere familiar with other long term travellers rather

Roughly half way down the Vietnamese coast is the quaint town of Hoi An boasting its traditional lifestyle and unspoilt Chinese architecture from the 17th century. Travellers flock here to purchase goods from tailors that produce made-to-measure clothes for a fraction of the western price and to relax in its many quaint cafes along the river edge. To me this town marks the beginning of my Irish teachings...drinking. By god are they good at it! Although i was sick as a dog and still deaf in one ear from my Tubbing days in Laos, I got in the spirit of the Irish ways and spent a good few days in
