Love the pictures!
What an amazing experience you are having. Saw Aunt Molly in NYC last week. She is recovering nicely from her hip replacement surgery. The kitchen remodel is terrific. Have fun on your horseback riding adventure. Love to you and Luca, Aunt Maura

hard work
Siobhan, you have been doing hard work! You must have been pretty sore and tired a good deal of the time with all the lifting, and such. Good for you to use your energy that way and help build two houses (and impressive houses at that). The pastures are great. Thank you.

It is odd to see the cowboy hat on the guy rebind the horse. Traditional garb only goes so far for the Chengis Khan festival I guess. Have you done a riding yet?

Technology is working
Hi, got the phone call. All is going o.k. What a wonderful adventure you are having. Makes me want to dig out photos of Dehli from 28 years ago. Perhaps you will be able to identify things and settings long forgotten. Sending lots of love and cheering you in your lastest adventure. G

What a fabulous opportunity! Thanks for including me on the blog. I will follow your travels with interest. What will you be doing? Uncle Diarmuid is in Spain teaching for a month, I am home helping with Brendan and Melinda's new baby, Maura Elizabeth, and getting organized for Annie's engagement party on June 30th in Chicago. We hope you will be able to come up for her wedding on October 27th in Portland. Take care and have fun. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Aunt Maura

Trip sounds great
Hi Siobhan! Your trip sounds really great--Are you getting good first hand research done on emerging markets, inflation, forex, and commodities? (sorry, had to mention that stuff!) Your photos and comments are very interesting. Good luck and safe travels, -Gabe

travels
Hi Siobhan, It's so exciting to see your photos! I think I have to put South America at the top of my list of places to go to next. You are seeing such a variety of places and things. Wine making to hiking to cities I've never heard of! Much love to you and thanks for keeping us traveling with you! xo, Kathleen

Wish I was there...
Siobhan, it sounds like you are having a great time, wish I was there instead of working, we all miss you at KFF! When I was in Argentina, our bus broke down also, I guess its a universal experience.

The pictures are really as great way to give us a glimpse of the trip! I can only imagine how long the bus ride must have felt with an extra hour or two added on for cardboard repairs! Enjoy your travels in Coumbia with Nichole. We went to Cartagena several years ago, so I'll be interested in seeing what it looks like now! Safe travels - Love, Liz

Hola!
Hope you had a good journey to Mendoza Siobhan. Two of my cousins were born there, so I have heard lots of stories, and yes, had my share of mate too! (They served in a gourd, with a metal straw that had a filter on the end.) We enjoy your pictures and it sounds like and Nicole had a real ball together. Stay safe now...thinking of you! Love, Liz (and Dale too!)

soap sticks!
i discovered soap sticks in a hostel in Ecuador last year. The soap on the stick almost AMAZING. This bathroom was the only one that had soap on a stick out of three bathrooms and I would always use it....i would go and wash my hands, even if i didnt have to, just to use the soap on a stick. I think it is an AMAZING invention....Its good to know that someone else is enjoying the soap on a stick like I do! And enjoy your time here...and there is a way to rotate your photos so they are standing in the right direction. When you download them they should all be showing (before you save all of them and publish the blog) Hit the rotate button. You can either rotate it left or right.
