I've been based in Cardiff for the last six months as part of my Gap year and am currently planning a further five months travelling in South America, New Zealand and Fiji! Start off in Quito, Ecuador for just over a fortnight before heading down to Cuzco for 6 weeks' charity work. Then (hopefully after the Inca Trail) overland to La Paz until July before bussing it around New Zealand! Finishing off in Fiji until September and then heading home ready for Nottingham Uni :)

I´m now sitting in the foyer of a hostel about ten minutes away from Lima airport having finally arrived! A stilted conversation with the taxi driver (who was lovely and waited an hour for me as the flight was delayed) has just highlighted the need for me to brush up the little Spanish I have learnt. Picking up the odd words and phrases pretty quickly, but stringing a sentence together at the best of times is a bit of a challenge! No better place to learn it than here and I have a few more conversations and taxi arrangements lined up to do some polishing, anyway. Am sitting in Heathrow airport for the second time in nearly as many days! Came back from an awesome 10 days in California - started off skiing in Heavenly, Lake Tahoe with the perfect measure of snow and sun, followed by a couple of days exploring San Francisco. San Fran was absolutely amazing - like the first time you step out of the tube and see London, complimented by five days of amazing skiing, fantastic sunshine and four hours of a journey involving a copious amount of sugary snacks. Awesome.
