Vamanos Chicos to a land of dizzying heights, tourist traps, and Ican idols... ¨Cusscooöooo¨ (everytime we hear the name, we automatically start singing The Emperor´s New Groove soundtrack). We arrived in Cusco via nightbus after spending a few days in the beautiful Colca Canyon. Our hotel was modeled after a traditional home with modern ammenities and aesthetics. It was definitely the most luxurious accomodation that we have slept in to date. Hammocks overlooked the rice terraces and mountain valleys while the hotel pet ´Manchez´a hybrid Alpaca and Llamba grazed nearby. Nestled into the crook of a mountain, the Mama Yacchi hotel was definitely a relaxing way to spend the evenings. Wind pan pipe music of all the worldy classics (Circa Titanic, Evita etc) along with a fire and Cacchi (?) corn awaited our return each night. ... read more

Hello Chicos! Finally, access to the internet (and a very confusing keyboard). We arrived safe and sound in Lima, Peru on tuesday after almost being unable to catch our last flight that had been overbooked. We spent the day exploring the city of Lima. Visitng the catacombs and wandering around the the main square. The fusion of culture throughout Peru is so apparent. Vibrant native traditions and colours synchronize themselves with colonial spanish arechitecture. We have been travelling down the coast of Peru and have already encountered a few adventures. Probably the biggest adrenaline rush so far was our day spent sand buggying. In Huacachina, a town smack dab in the desert, we were strapped in to moving contraptions while our driver zoomed over enourmous sand dunes. Screaming is unavoidable. We both got mouthfuls of sand. ... read more

Jolly pukka mates! It has been a while since our last entry because we've been inondated with activities and have been soaking up the last remaining weeks of our trip. Our final couple days in Greece were spent in mesmerizing Oia. We flitted between the red, black and white sandy beaches and digested our fair share of fantastic Greek food! Unfortunately, food isn't the only thing that Greece is known for. Ouzo- a black liquorice alcohol type drink is famed among the locals. We found it absolutely revolting and were discouraged when a kindly waiter gave us two heaping glasses on the house. Despair set in. Followed by a stealthy and quick witted plan. We had to time our actions perfectly to avoid the never-ending stream of waiters passing our table. At a precise moment of ... read more

Hello Everyone, it's been awhile as we have been having some action-packed, crazy adventures but once again we have emerged unscathed and amazed by the places we've been visiting and people we've been meeting. Venice was a city unlike any other that we've seen. Floating on the water, it is rich in history, beauty and tourists. Before we arrived, we met people who assured us that the only way to truly appreciate this area was to explore it by water boat - so this is what we did. We enjoyed two days of wandering the unique canals by boat and getting lost in the streets while on foot. We managed to locate the most enormous, delicious pizzas known to Italy (and our tastebuds) and checked out the location where "The Italian Job" was filmed. When ... read more

Sam and Larissa have finally arrived in Italy! After a week of trying (and failing) to leave Barcelona we managed to escape. Once again train porblems were our hinderance. Therefore, on a saurday night we ended up in buzzing Barcelona, kicked out of the train station and without a place to sleep. As we were in a run down, industrial area of the city we decided to lug our bags around with us into the centre of busier Barcelona. There we would try to wait out the sunrise and reopening of the train station. Or, this was our plan. This is the way in which Samantha and Larissa found themselves on a park bench in the middle of Las Ramblas at three in the morning. In order to prevent the extreme tiredness that was setting ... read more

Hola chicos, We started off our expedition to Spain via the trains which always seem to promise one type of adventure or another. As we chugged along we passed by little inlets of villages by the Mediteranean. Just when we think we are getting used to our incredible surroundings, new and equally beautiful sights amaze us. Just to clarify the imagery: Sam and I are staring out the window crying (because everything is so overwhelming and we still can´t believe we´re here) and then the train shuts down. Used to the quirky train rides in Europe, we sat in our seats nonpulsed. Suddenly we heard the car door slam open and four men holding guns walk onto the train. They were all dressed like ordinary travellers minus one man standing at the back of the ... read more

Bonjour *insert kiss on both your cheeks After our Swansea adventure we headed to Worthing in Southern England. We stayed with Clare, Sam's second cousin and visited the rest of her family there. We've been amazed by everyone's kindness and generosity on our travels and it's been really nice to stay with people from the places we visit and get to share in their lives as they live them. Worthing is a small seaside town and Clare's house was a one minute walk from the ocean. On our first night we listened to a jazz band at a local pub and in the couple days that followed we had cream tea on the pier, indulged in some fish n' chips, strolled along the ocean, took a day trip into Brighton and visited with family. Our last day in London we went and saw the musical Evita which was good and which we really enjoyed. Although nothing can compare to Equus. We almost went to the stage door on our last night in London to talk to the actors because we still couldn't stop thinking about the show but then we found a Canadian pub and stayed there instead. We even convinced the pub owners to switch the t.v. from a soccer station to a hockey one with our Canadian charm. On the 9th we took the train from London to Bath for a couple hours before continuing on to Swansea. Bath is the picturesque village famed for it's hot springs and used by early pagan Britons and then converted by the Romans into baths. We stumbled around in sheer ... read more

Thanks everyone for the fab messages of lurve. We had a wonderful day. Actually the last couple of days have been smashing! Yesterday we were on our own to discover London so we checked out Trafalgar Square (and saw the Canadian Embassy- woot), saw the National Gallery and then meandered our way through Green park in search of Buckingham palace. To our shock and delight, just as we exited onto the streets a marching British band came towards us and proceeded to follow us down the street to the palace. We were quite bemused as their bearskin hats glinted in afternoon sunlight and their trumpets resounded through the English courtyard. Next stop was Greenwich for some amazing Indian cuisine and overall sightseeing with our dear friend Rita. The village is a picturesque British town right ... read more

Sam and Larissa have arrived!!! The flight over here seemed to go by quickly and people were more than willing to switch their seats so we could sit together. The neatest (and most exhausting) part of the trip was watching the sun set and then two hours later watching it rise again from pink to red to yellow to day at 550 m/ph. When we arrived we were surprised at how fast we got out of the Heathrow airport- everyone had told us it was one of the world's worst so we were expecting a long wait but were surprised to get out of there in half an hour(!) and then we easily found our way to Andrew's on the tube. He lives 20 mins by tube from central London in a beautiful area of ... read more
