Oops! Forgot I hadn't done Christmas and New year so briefly after I got back from Tas there was a week before Christmas, one of the girls I know from church was baptised in the river which was pretty cool and otherwise we did a lot of cleaning and shopping. Christmas eve we went to a street party where I met someone willing to give me work(see later). Christmas Day we ate outside although it wasn't as warm and sunny as you might imagine, that happened on Boxing Day when we had people round for a BBQ. Anyway we pretty much ate normal Christmas dinner but we cooked the Turkey and some Kangaroo outside on the spit roast Michael got for Christmas! :-) The kids were so excited to get up and open their stockings and ... read more

Ok so this entry is all about my trip to Tasmania but my week actually started off in Geelong(I went to see Pili and Simon) and this time I saw Geelong by day, we walked along the water front, had a few beers and then an amazing tapa's meal before going to a Christmas party some of theirs local friends were having, the next day we watched four weddings and a funeral and headed our separate ways. I headed to the airport where I caught a very quick flight(less than an hour) to Hobart where I landed at 9pm and was met by Talbot and Winnie. I had met these guys summer 2008 in Prague and they had been very kind and offered to show me Tas, and what better way to explore than with locals. ... read more

Ok so...since I last blogged there has not been much on the job front, although I have had a couple of interviews. However I have managed to fill my time. One week Eva was off sick so we watched lots of DVDs, baked and went horse riding-she wasn't very ill by the end of the week. Also been to a few family parties. I met up with some friends I made travelling up north in the city for a night out and a bit of sightseeing including the Immigration museum. Pili and Simon, friends from home also came into the city and then we had a day at the beach near Geelong where the boys are staying with family. More recently the boys came up to Warrandyte for the day so we had lunch by the ... read more

Ok, so it has been a long time, oops! After Darwin I flew to Cairns where it was raining the majority of the time I spent there. It was just a town really with not a lot to do other than visit areas of natural beauty surrounding so I headed off to Cape Tribulation for a day trip. This is where the rainforest meets the beach/ocean-its pretty cool up there, we did a boardwalk through the rainforest and stopped at Port Douglas on the way back as well as a few other little stops. Port Douglas is a very quaint little seaside town, beautiful views and it would be nice to stay there again. The nightlife in Cairns was quite fun, although in the space of just a few hours I met people from Blackburn, Blackpool ... read more

So..after a week or so in Melbourne catching up with the family I flew to Alice Springs, its a strange little town but I finally found the sun! Had a day there before going on a 3day tour to Uluru, Kings canyon and Kata Tjuta. Had a wander round town and went to The flying doctors service which was interesting about there obviously not being much medical care out there/everywhere is so so so far away from anywhere else! Also learnt a bit about the first hospital there and a couple of other history bits. Then we headed off on tour-it was amazing. We slept outside under the stars, all helped with the cooking on fires, etc and did plenty of walking and learning anout the envirnoment around us and the aboriginal people too. Met lots ... read more

Well I arrived in wet and to be honest pretty cold Melbourne on Friday. Sydney had been beautiful blue sky and gorgeous sunshine at 8am! I spent the day chilling out with Rachel, Joseph and Eva and Michael when he got in from work! Then quiet Friday night catching up on a bit of sleep in preparation for Saturday! Saturday was all about decorating the house for the big match and preparing food, etc. Guests started to arrive about 1pm in plenty of time for kick off(not sure thats the correct term for Aussie Rules). The match was very close all the way through and it was pretty exciting! And then in the last 10mins after 2hours the Saints lost to the Cats! There were a few tears and then the BBQ went on to console ... read more

So...I arrived yesterday. The Phoenix hostel is nice and there were two British and one Korean guys sharing my room. 2 of them have left now but they are all quite friendly with various experiences of travelling. I arrived at 11ish Tuesday 22nd so in the afternoon I went to the Shanghai History museum at the bottom of the oriental pearl tower! I also saw the Jinmao tower and Shanghai world financial centre (3rd tallest building in the world). I ate some food in the restaurant underneath my hostel last night which was nice-dumplings so not too adventurous but hey. I've spent both last night and tonight in the roof terrace bar at hostel, it is very chilled out and there is internet access which is nice-although no fb. Today I went to Jade Buddha Temple, ... read more
