Oops! Forgot I hadn't done Christmas and New year so briefly after I got back from Tas there was a week before Christmas, one of the girls I know from church was baptised in the river which was pretty cool and otherwise we did a lot of cleaning and shopping. Christmas eve we went to a street party where I met someone willing to give me work(see later).
Christmas Day we ate outside although it wasn't as warm and sunny as you might imagine, that happened on Boxing Day when we had people round for a BBQ. Anyway we pretty much ate normal Christmas dinner but we cooked the Turkey and some Kangaroo outside on the spit roast Michael got for Christmas! :-) The kids were so excited to get up and open their stockings and all their other presents, it was lovely to be able to share that with them. Eva couldn't even speak she was so excited. :-)
Then the Tuesday after Christmas we set off very early to Adelaide, where John, Rachel's brother lives. On the way we saw the pink lakes, giant Koala and a landrover on a pole-that is all there is to see
for over 700km. On arrival me and Rach headed out to meet Jeanette and her dad in the Barossa valley for a bit of wine tasting. We drove past Jacobs Creek, Penfolds, etc and went to smaller wineries, as these tend to be nicer! The next day we all headed to Adelaide Zoo which is right in the centre of the city to see the 2 new Pandas! They were very cute but it soon got too hot for everyone and we had to retreat to the pool, which is also where I spent most of New years eve day with the kids, while everyone else shopped for food, beer, etc. Then there was a big party which was great fun and despite the number of people there only one guy was an Aussie and he was an interesting character. On the Saturday we went to the Whispering Wall which is very near John and Jeanette's house. Basically it is this huge dam but if you stand at opposite sides and whisper you can hear each other-very strange but fun. Then I got the train into Adelaide city and did a walking tour and went into the Museum of South
Australia which was pretty good. There were lots of nice buildings, it is a small city easy to walk around and I liked the area around the river. The following day we set off back to Melbourne-another long drive but we were back in time to pick up the horses which was good.
The next day I started working for Anthea, looking after Caitin(7) and Tara(5). I worked Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri. Eva came to play on Tue and Wed we went to shopping centre to spend Christmas vouchers. I enjoyed my weeks work, the children were nice and there was a pool for when things got too hot!
That weekend we had friends over Sat for a BBQ and then went to a friends new house for another BBQ on Sunday which was really lovely and that is where Rach's 2nd horse now lives. Then I left for New Zealand! :-)
