Last Friday the football team I support, QPR, was on Sky Sports in the UK. I had seen an advert for the Old English Pub somewhere and saw that they showed the UK football matches. So off I went to find the bar. Friday night was also Christmas Beer night. Each year on the last Friday of October the breweries launch their Christmas beer. The beer is slightly darker and has a warm spice flavour, so I’m told. There was fake snow in some parts of the main street and people wearing blue Santa hats. Apparently Tuborg is the one that [View Full Entry]

Operaen Europe » Denmark » Region Hovedstaden » Copenhagen
Yesterday I went for a bit of an explore from Christianshavn Metro station to the Opera House (Operaen). Found this really weird abandon piece of land not too far from the station. Saw some woman come out of the gates and thought that it might be a cut through. It had a piano that had been painted, complete with keys and lid. Lots of things that had been abandoned. Think it might have had some minature railway set up as soon the markings of tracks and some controls. Got some cool pictures, even better that I now have my DSLR with [View Full Entry]

Had my first full week at work and really enjoying it. Lunch is taken about 11.30am, some people in my department have gone down at 11.15am. As you can imagine by 4pm I’m starving! There’s a system for going around the canteen, which I didn’t really get. But luckily I found the colour coded map to assist me in future lunchings. Im using the the menu to try and add some more words to my very limited vocabulary. Loving the fact that I have a desk that I can raise to standing level, always gives a nice change to seating down, [View Full Entry]

Friday Today was the date of the announcement of the host city of the 2016 Olympics. I headed over to the Rådhuspladsen (The Town Square), which is outside the town hall where the presentations were taking place. A massive stage had been built and as part of the Olympic festival some kids were doing a demonstration of wrestling on it. Also in the square was a BMX track, TV studios and a bar which was going to be selling five drinks (inc soft drinks) for 100kr. That’s right for the bargain price of £2.40 each, you too could be the proud [View Full Entry]

Arrival Europe » Denmark » Region Hovedstaden » Copenhagen
It's been a while since I've written a travel blog, about 4 years ago when I travelled around Australia and New Zealand. Here I am in 2009 in Copenhagen, for a 6 month secondment. Im going to be based in the centre but going to try and get around Denmark and Sweden as much I can at weekends. Left the UK at 1010 this morning via the new-ish Terminal 5 and had a bit of a bumpy descent into Copenhagen. Was picked up at the airport by the relocation persion, which was a blessing. Didn't think I would make it on [View Full Entry]

So what have I been up to since I left the North Island last Sunday? Well I shall hence forth tell you. Got the inter island ferry to a place called Picton where there is nothing else there apart from the ferry terminal. Most interesting thing we saw there was the bus drivers dad's house. Will tell you in a bit after what I did on my last day in Brissy. Firstly I went to the art gallery and museum. The former to be avoided during any Queensland holidays or schoolies.
