Geo: 30.0754, 120.177Today we were up early as again Clint was excited to be visiting Mr Tong's factories, so we were picked up then we went shopping to the phone shop as we now had Cookie as our bargaining lady, we bought a few Apple products then left the city area and headed to the first factory which was where they make Plastic curtain parts, then next we had some lunch to share and next was the Tape Factory where Curtain Tapes were produced, one of which is our wave tape( Remfold ). I certainly wouldn't like to re-thread this machine if the thread broke, hundreds of clear threads on this machine.Next was where metal rods and finials are produced, this place was massive with lots of workers having their tea break at 4.30pm re starting ... read more

Geo: 29.88, 121.55We had breakfast, so much food to choose from too, and a huge variety of unusual foods that I have never seen, then we went across the river, first shop we went to was like a market of different phones, accessories etc, lots of different sellers all offering different prices, as usual we chose some items, got a price and did a bit of bargaining, but after finding out from Cookie, she said we paid too much!! Continued to a fashion market where I bought some clothes for the girls ( which they probably won't even like ) and went through to a market area and shoe market/ shop which was 3 stories high, but then we had to head back to the hotel as we were getting collected by Cookie and Mr Tong ... read more

Geo: 31.2222, 121.458Today we had lots to do before leaving Shanghai, a quick breakfast then took the subway to Lujiazui as this is down by The Bund and also the TV Tower, we bought tickets to go into the tower for the view, extremely quick lift to 263metres, luckily for us the smog wasn't too bad. We then went up to 351 metres where for some strange reason we had to wear covers on our shoes ! Then down to 259m where there was an outdoor viewing platform with a clear glass floor, that was amazing! Next was to exit down in the lift, that was fun, hundreds of school kids and so noisy, always someone has somebody closer to the front and they have to push through, so we were jammed in tight and then ... read more

We left the expo after a while and went back to the hotel briefly and then on subway line 2 first then we changed to line 10 to go to Wujiaocha to find a shop for Nikki but after getting lost so many times, we ended up back on the subway and got off at Nanjing Road to do some shopping. Geo: 39.9165, 116.391We woke up early to get to have breakfast as we had an early pickup for a tour of the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiannamen Square, we waited in the lobby earlier than required, but started to wonder whether we would be getting picked up at about 8.30am, and went to enquire at the reception, they tried calling for us as it was in Chinese, but no one was answering as it was Sunday, so we waited until 9am or so, checked again even on the internet, but then we decided to buy another tour as we were forgotten about, so the next tour was only for the Mutianyu Great Wall, not including any lunch, we bought some sandwiches, not being able to read what they were, but it was tuna! Geo: 39.9165, 116.391We left Adelaide at 7.15pm Friday 21st March, bound for Beijing, via Singapore. The flight was good, we made it to Singapore just before midnight, then boarded another plane for Beijing. We tried to sleep a bit but you never get much sleep!! We arrived at 7am, found our bags, went through customs then went to find a phone card. We got hassled by lots of pestering men, wanting to give us a good price for taxi ride to our hotel, but we were wary about this, and checked with information desk, and was told should it would be cheaper than what this sleasy guy was quoting, he said $480 RMB but actually cost $158 RMB !! Made it to the Novotel Peace Hotel, then went out to hit the shops ( whoops was meant to ... read more
