| 25th December 2009 RIcky Ray | Happy Holiday! - From: Night Before Christmas To Pat, Nan, and Shaddy, Happy Holiday to you all. Sounds like you are having some fun with others, and getting the right kind of gifts. We are doing well here. Having a beautiful clear day today, having Chunkie over for a dinner. Tomorrow we go to a play and dinner. Miss your smiling faces. My best to all! Ricky Ray |
| 24th December 2009 Tom Mackin | "Wild and Windy" - From: Day Trip to El Centro CA Good thing you were both a couple of 'cow-hands' in an earlier life or time. Sounds like driving that one hwy was like riding an angry bull. Adventurous indeed! Be glad you are out of Dodge City (Olympia). Not nearly as bad as last winter but damn cold. I spend most of my time in the bathtub and under our new heated blankets. Spring will not be here soon enough. Otherwise MOS. Tiger-gate has slowed somewhat. The saga has been as good as any golf round he ever shot or likely to shoot. If he fails to face his fans before too long they will certainly be ready to flash bulbs and provide mistimed hollering on his back-swing when he does come out from hiding. It will be great theater! Stay safe, have fun and certainly have a Merry Christmas! Love, Tom and gang |
| 24th December 2009 Terry | Response - From: Day Trip to El Centro CA Good to hear from you. So you are fond of dust storms, huh? When you return to damp western WA you will have to shake the dust from your boots...and your home. Maybe we would have the start of a beach in Cougar Ridge. Be well and enjoy the rattlesnake chili! Merry Christmas! |
| 23rd December 2009 Julie Knaake | Glad you are all having a great trip - From: Day Trip to El Centro CA Very good idea to put on those fog lights in the sandstorm sandstorms are not nice to be driving in as a lot of travlers found that out the other day on I-5 in Az the bocce courts & rattlesnake chili almost make me want another 5th wheel but then I'd have to give up Carlo & get a truck ! Happy Festivus....I got some people grumblin' down at Lone*Star this AM owner missed us said it wasn't fun without us there to make them laugh ! Now is this a good sign or a bad one ? I took them a Jalapeno Cornbread and all was good. |
| 20th December 2009 Ada | Down the road - From: Day Trip to Lake Havasu City Hey, even though I know you are not down the road from us, your blog helps me to remember that home is where the heart is and your adventures are so worth reading about!! Keep us posted!! we miss you. Ada |

| 9th December 2009 Jimbo | Ahead of the storm - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg Hey Pat, Glad you were able to stay ahead of the storm. We got a lot of snow and cold but the worst was south of us. We are now in the deep freeze. 9 degrees last night and 16 for the high today. At my house in Green River it was -27 this morning. I will be back up there next week so I hope it moderates a bit before I get there. Hope you are loving the gypsy life. Jimbo |
| 8th December 2009 Tom Deitschel | Enjoy - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg I'm following along as you & Nancy enjoy the benefits of retirement. Think I told you we ran into snow in Flagstaff last week during our return from the Arizona mini-reunion---also had about an inch here last night. So, am envious of what I know will be "blue skies" for you. |
| 8th December 2009 Terry | Frigid! - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg Good to hear from you. Yes, you left just in time. It was a toasty 7 degrees last night...more of the same in the next 24 hours. Wonder if we will escape this cold front without white flakes! Your house is OK...no frozen pipes, etc. Stay in touch and enjoy the warm weather. |
| 8th December 2009 Olivia | Your trip - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg I have been keeping up with your travels and glad everything went ok. Ariz. sounds good to me after we got up to 8-10 inches of snow this morning and it is still snowing. However, I must say it is beautiful outside. I am hoping this comment will go through. Take care. Livvie |
| 8th December 2009 Pat | More than a River Breeze - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg Hi you three...happy birthday to Shadow...Sounds like you've found a great place to spend a few weeks. The sun is out here and blue skies...cold and very beautiful out. Our tree is decorated and there are pretty displays around the neighborhood. Have a great time in the sunny (well, most of the time) South. We enjoy your updates and location maps. Enjoy the toddies. Do you think the flag may signal to the neighbors what great margaritas you make? I foresee a gathering in the community kitchen... |
| 8th December 2009 Julie Knaake | Toddy Flag - From: Ensconced in Ehrenburg Love the flag you 3 were lucky to get out of Wa without the cold weather real cold up here and will keep being cold the river is even frozen....but not my Merlot |
| 7th December 2009 Al | Keep up the blogs - From: Dos Reis to Bakersfield Hi Paddy Keep it up we are interested. Al |
| 7th December 2009 Tom Mackin | "keep on Trucken" - From: Dos Reis to Bakersfield When they sai, "keep on trucken", they must of had you in mind. Great photos! You got out of state in the nic of time. So cold. 24 degrees in kirkland this morning. 3 more days of hellish cold before warmth and rain return. Give me rain over cold. You know that the best laid plans get shot too hell from time to time. I know how adaptive you both can be. A great skill indeed. We will keep you in our thoughts and hearts as you 'move down the line'. Tom PS In his last 2 games Jake Locker has shown to be the best pro quarterback prospect in the country. No one can touch him. Huskies, Pac 10 Champions next year if he returns. #3 draft pick in the Pro's if he leaves. The Civil War was everything I hoped it would be. You had other matters to tend to. | 5th December 2009 Pat | Orange Groves - From: Snowbird Journey to Arizona What great photos as usual...along with the interesting description of your trip. Is the rest stop problem in the interest of cost-saving in CA? How fun to be camped in an orange grove. I have fond memories of that in the 50's when my parents would take us on long camping trips in the summer. We have awakened to cold temps and clear skies the past few days. Hopefully today we will get a little walk in. I'm just happy to feel better...sense of balance is back as well as my APPETITE! Miss you all very much. Have a safe and wonderful trip. |
| 5th December 2009 Walt Z. | Buc-ee's - From: Dos Reis to Bakersfield Too bad there is not one Buc-ee's on the road to Arizona. Sounds like you needed a Buc-ee's stop yesterday. |
| 5th December 2009 Terry | Cougar Ridge Neighbors - From: Dos Reis to Bakersfield San Joaquin at Dos Reis 2 is a great photo! No lunch? Not a good thing to do. Don't make a habit of it, OK? |
| 5th December 2009 Elli | How neat! - From: Dos Reis to Bakersfield I like that you get to pick the oranges, that's great. Sorry to hear about the dent though... Love you! |
| 5th December 2009 Ada Kramer | snow birding in Oly - From: Snowbird Journey to Arizona Its getting mighty cold here this pm, we are going to hear the Magical Strings play at St. John's Episcopal Church tonite. We miss you guys, stay warm in the Cailfornia sun. Lot of love, Ada |
| 4th December 2009 Julie Knaake | border control point - From: Snowbird Journey to Arizona When we lived in san Jose there was a big worry about the Mediterranean Fruit fly and helicopters would go over nightly spraying our citrus trees. The girls & I went out and picked all the fruit and juiced it for the freezer. No bugs AND no spray residue on our fruit juice. I always loved traveling over the rolling hills of Redding and Red Bluff. Hoping they are not congested for your trip. Keep having a safe trip. |

| 3rd December 2009 Terry | Hey! - From: Snowbird Journey to Arizona Glad to hear you cleared the mountains and are now in the Golden State! Drive safely and enjoy a more leisurely pace as you continue southward. Good turnout for the CRHA meeting last night...standing room only! No earth shaking news - just a good review of the year. A new board - minus Paddrick - was elected. Bobbie's funeral will be Monday. I'll officiate at the graveside in Kent that afternoon. Pat's recovered her sense of balance and health! Thanks for the blog and we'll keep watching for yer news, pardner! |

Anyway, thanks for taking us along. Really enjoyable! Tom D PS: My tribute to the "Pick 'em champ of the year"----Pat killed us all this year on at least 3 tournaments----maybe more because I've sent a lot of money to Olympia!! |

| 27th September 2009 Pat | Feeling the heat - From: Ensconced in Grangeville, Idaho Hi dear Friends, Sounds like you're enjoying your trip with exception of some extremely hot days without shade. Hopefully the AC is keeping you cool. All's well here. Terry and I returned from our little jaunt to Mt. Rainier. It was a gorgeous two days. The weather was just right. We hiked 5 miles each day. Once at Paradise and once at Longmire. The B & B was fun too. It was a great place to meet some very interesting travelers. The night skies really made the Milky Way very visible. How beautiful that was. We are rested up and already making plans to visit more National Parks. The weather here is really mild and nice. Just what you both like. Hope Shaddy is doing OK after his unhappy stay as the Guard Dog. Miss you lots, Pat |
| 25th September 2009 Bryan | US 95 - From: Ensconced in Grangeville, Idaho I've driven US 95 more times that I can count over the last forty years, and if you think the road is steep today, you should have tried it back when you drove through 22 switchbacks climbing White Bird Hill south of Grangeville. You're right about the heat though. There is a very nice campground east of Grangeville up the mountain and in the trees, but it's rather primitive. I pitched my tent there a couple of years ago and had a fine time. Enjoying your reports. Keep 'em coming. Bryan |
| 24th September 2009 Julie Knaake | Hot Idaho - From: Ensconced in Grangeville, Idaho Poor Nan has to listen to you complain about the heat ! Doesn't the heat make your old knees feel better ? I bet you are happy about taking this wonderful trip. I do love that picture 04 all the way back to the Mts. Was that a sandy or a rocky beach on the right. |
| 23rd September 2009 Tom Deitschel | Boise - From: Another Trip Highlight! Take my word for it, Pat, family is what it's all about. I'm enjoying your trip, but not as much as you & Nancy---and Shaddy! |

| 21st September 2009 Terry | Tetons Remembered - From: Picture Perfect Day in Grand Teton National Park Gads, the last time I saw the Tetons must have been the summer of 1960. We drove to my great-grandmother's 90th birthday in Georgetown, CO and passed through this magnificent scenery. It is a sight for the eyes! |

| 19th September 2009 Walt Z. | Good Samaritan - From: A Lost Day; Another Good Deed A great story. Sounds like you kept an already bad experience (engine fire) from becoming a total loss. I will have to make a note about Dubois, Wyoming. Another "travel to do." I think you may have made some important discoveries on your journey. Perhaps you have actually located some of those promised "spade-ready Stimulus Package Projects" that seem to be so well concealed! |

| 13th September 2009 Dave & Mare | Paddy, don't miss Chief Crazy Horse - From: A Good Deed On The Way To Rushmore The Chief Crazy Horse Memorial (about 20 miles SW of Rushmore) is worth the stop. Best to you, Nan and Shad. Dave & Mare |

| 12th September 2009 Julie | Rushmore - From: A Good Deed On The Way To Rushmore So glad you & family are seeing Rushmore and are keeping safe out there on the road. Almost got a tiny twinge of the envy when you said you were off to the Badlands tomorrow....but told myself nope you can always go back someday with your cameras... . Myself said envy was unbecoming so I was being good. ..can't wait for us blog followers get pictures of the badlands. |
| 9th September 2009 Terry | You Bagged a Shot! - From: The Tower and More Who sez you're not persistent? Way to hang in there. Photographers must have patience...and the time to develop patience. Thanks for the shots of the devil. |
| 9th September 2009 Bryan | Patience - From: The Tower and More Timing is everything, and we all know how patient photographers have to be to get the right shot. The last one posted is a gem. Thanks for sharing. And happy trails as you continue your journey. |
| 9th September 2009 Elli | - From: The Tower and More What a nice view you've got! |
| 9th September 2009 Pat | Super Photos of Devil's Tower - From: The Tower and More Hi dear Neighbors, Sounds like you're having a marvelous trip. Your photos along the way give us an opportunity for a vicarious trip too! All is well on the homefront. I watered the impatiens. Most were doing well, one was a bit dry. We've had quite a bit of rain here all weekend and yesterday too. Of course I missed our walk yesterday, Nancy. However, I did spend time reading your blog and have really enjoyed hearing about your adventures and what's for dinner. Nice place setting. Just like a fancy restaurant! The beast must "eat" a lot of gas, but what it could eat, namely bugs, it doesn't. So, those pounds of bugs can be left in a pile near the campsite for the bug-eating birds! Happy trails to you three, Pat |
| 9th September 2009 Julie Knaake | Mist - From: The Tower and More Devil's Tower in Mist is awesome. We did not get to see it with mist. |

| 7th September 2009 Tom Deitschel | Envy, I think - From: Here We Are In Hardin Yet! The pictures are really great an I'm sure the trip has been a blast even though Nancy said it is pretty hot. Guess I need to check her Blog to get a full reading on this trip!!! |
| 6th September 2009 Jim | Hardin and Little Bighorn - From: Here We Are In Hardin Yet! Glad you got to see the Little Bighorn. I went there about 12 years ago and it made a lasting impression on me. I was also impressed how they have worked out how the battle was fought and who died where and of what and when. Historical forensics I guess is what it is called. Happy Trails, Jim |
| 6th September 2009 OUSooner | Stayed in that same KOA in '95 - From: A Day in Hardin Montana Hi Paddy - what nostalgia you conjure up with your travel blogs - we stayed at the same KOA when we visited the Little Big Horn in '95. We still remember that wonderful trip and the great spell-binding description of the battle given by the Park Ranger. Glad to hear you, Nan and Shaddy are enjoying the trip, even if you you don't like the sound of a mournful train whistle during the night! (Mare loves the sound - says it helps her to sleep better!) |
| 6th September 2009 Julie Knaake | The old cookstove - From: A Day in Hardin Montana Well your trip brought me a memory of picture of the exact stove I cooked & canned on 25 short years ago up in my old cabin and the memories of the scar fom an axe still on my knee. So happy you are having a great trip...Just ignore the noises ...some would and be happy to hear them. |
| 4th September 2009 Jim | Hardin - From: South Puget Sound to Moses Lake, WA Hey, Hardin is about 25 miles from Ft. Smith where I will be in 3 weeks. A Bighorn Fishing trip with Dick Hauch, my old buddy from my intern days. The Custer Battlefield is worth a stop if you get close. Jim |
| 28th May 2009 Paddymac | Will Sequim be a stop? - From: Uncle Joe’s Shakedown Cruise The Salt Creek County Park campground overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca is about a 25 minute drive west of Port Angeles, which is a bit west of Sequim. We drove into Port Angeles to use the fee wifi at the PA public library, to update the travel blog. We didn't go to Sequim this trip, but are familiar with it and the 3 Crabs Resturant. Sequim has become quite the retirement community. But probably not for us because of the logistical problem of getting an RV across Puget Sound to travel to the Cascades and beyond. Paddy |
| 23rd May 2009 Anita Stanhope | Heaven on wheels? - From: Uncle Joe’s Shakedown Cruise Sounds like a great adventure for all! |
| 20th May 2009 Julie | RV Electrical Systems...et al - From: Uncle Joe’s Shakedown Cruise Hope you did not overload too many appliances inside . Oh fix it soon.... I have enjoyed your trip so far and the pictures are great....the umbrella floating away....magnificent I was pretty stingy in our 5th wheel and did a lot of barbecuing out doors....here is a link to hopefully help out but a warranty will work also even if time consuming ...now I want seafood and tuna ! RV Electrical Systems http://www.rv-dreams.com/rv-electrical.html |
| 16th May 2009 Julie Knaake | Your Trip continued... - From: Uncle Joe’s Shakedown Cruise I could see all the glorious sights you have seen out that back window with your comments. What a great trip . Will Sequim be a stop off on that trip too ? Remembering those wonderful crabs we caught there years ago....mmmmm so good and juicy. |
| 12th November 2008 Eagleye | Very Refreshing - From: Photo Safari to Oregon's Silver Falls State Park Nice accounts and images of your travels. |
| 2nd February 2008 Gretchen | Fabulous pics of MY Tetons! - From: 2004 Trip to Tetons and Yellowstone Part 2 Hi, Paddy: I'm glad you put the link at Eons RVing. Wonderful blog, and fab pics! Makes me soooo homesick!!! Thank you so much for being here and doing this. It was even better in the 1950s, and early 60s, when there were few people who knew, and even fewer who visited there. Travelling was not yet a possibility for most people right after the war. We fished all these areas, little company then. We used to be so annoyed with tourists feeding the bears and deer and imprinting them on people, thus causing them to lose their fear, and becoming pests and dangerous to all. Too many wild bears have had to be killed because they were enticed to go over to find some more human food. As you know, it can be very serious. Again, I'll be back. Thank you. Gretchen |
| 9th August 2007 Terry Bucchieri | Great - From: Photo Safari to Oregon's Silver Falls State Park Fantastic Shots~ |
