today is an incredible day. Not because anything really big happened today but now I really feel like time is racing and so soon I will be on the plane travelling with highspeed towards my beloved egypt/Mid. east and my dear friends I will meet there!! The day I met Mary was a usual warm middle eastern summer day. The air was dusty even though the sky was dark blue competing with the intense yellow-brown of the sunscorched palestinian scenery. I didn't sleep too long that long morning since the Mu'azzin summoned muslim residents of the old city to start the day with the obligatory salAt, the morning prayer which usually starts before dawn. Here i am finally to update my online travel blog. I havent had that many opportunities so far to go online besides two short drop bys. I arrived on the 23th April in Phoenix/Arizona at 17:00 after a long 14.5 hour trip. Arizona, the wild wild west, home of coyotes, huuuuge cactusses, roadrunners and heat :) My friend picked me up and we had a look around town. Here I am again at this nice internet cafe with the great view over the red sea. Im very lazy today so i dont wanna write that much. Met up with my friend in Cairo and her family & friends which was so great. After a lot of frustration and rip offs in Cairo i was so happy to meet some lovely and honest people. We spent some great time together. Return from Cairo yesterday, lots of trouble with buses. Bus to dahab due to leave at 7.15, then it appeared to be full, not even baksheesh helped anymore. Yesterday was a very long day and a crazy onel The morning started with a lovely good morning orchestra at 5am doors were banging, cats were fighting violently (agro cats lol), construction works started in front of my window, the muezzin called the believers for the morning prayer (the minaret was right in front of my broken window). Hello again i just returned from a loong trip, in fact I did 3 things today. My day started with an attempt to walk around the old city on my own until I found out that my lacking sense of orientation lead me into the most remote corners of the city.. just far away from all sights. So in the end I decided to get a travel guide. he took me around town, I visited all important and holy places here in the old city (Al Aqsa, Wailing wall, via dolorosa, grave church, etc). Hello everybody.... here I finally am after a long trip from amman to Jerusalem. The trip was so tiring and like chewing gum. I left Amman at 8.30 in the morning and it took exactly 7 hours to get to Jerusalem which is not far at all (without borders it would be a one hour drive) I caught a service taxi to the Jordanian-palestinian border, after passing the jordanian controls (loong queues and waiting times) everybody had to get on a bus that would bring everybody over the king hussein bridge to the israeli border controls, from there right into the [View Full Entry]
