This is it once again. Spent more than 3 weeks travelling through the middle east and enjoyed it too much. This report is just a summary of my trip. My first night in Jordan I met up with John and Joelle, my lebanese friends who were in Amman at that time. It was really lovely to catch up with them. On saturday i started my travels towards lebanon by service taxi. The syrian controls have been hilarious as usual, met some very kind people on the way, monks and nuns who spontaneously offered me to show me their monastery near Saida and offered me a bed for the night. Westafrica has been a quite impressive experience. It is a truly opposite world compared to everything we know and believe in within Europe. Traffic has been rather moderate compared to some other countries (My personal Top 3: 1.Beirut, 2.Java(Indonesia), 3. Cairo). When I stepped out of the plane I felt like I was entering a hot steamy shower room combined with fumes and smoke. I thought it was going to choke me and I never really got used to it. My friends know me as someone who loves hot weather but this combination of fumes and humidity killed me bit by bit each day so I was more than happy to leave Accra. Hello, after ages I finally managed to sit down and write a travel journal again. At least something like it. After a lot of things happened previously it was great to go travelling on my own again and getting a break. I flew into germany as my dearest and very much loved granddad passed away on 9/9/09. What a date it was. I received the call while I was at work. However during the day I knew he was going to leave. Actually work has been a great therapy and distraction so since the day he deterioated I threw myself into work working mad hours. My soul needed it, my bank account as well did...
