Hi everyone, I must apologise for being soooo rubbish at updating my blog..Of course it was inevitable that I would fail to be super organised, because why would that happen to me when I'm travelling of al the places!! Anyway, I have a lot to tell and think that I may as well just tell you a bit and show you some snaps I've taken of the land Down Under! Sooo, I can hardly believe that I've been in Sydney now for three months! How time flies when you're having fun! On arrival here I stayed with Kim and her family who kindly put me up for a week in their house in the run up to and over Christmas. So I got to experience a proper Ozzie Christmas. That was amazing, and Kim has a ... read more

Arrived in Swaziland for the second time on this trip. Having had a pretty dull time last time, I didn't have high hopes for the place, but this time was far better. Probably because I was with my cool buddy Kek this time! We only had one night so decided to do some white water farfting which was pretty fun, and uneventful. Later that day we decided to tryand hitch to Nelspruit, near Kruger park. Not quite sure how we thought it would happen when we didn't even leave until 4pm, and it turned out not to happen, but luckily for us we were picked up by a well intending man, who it turned out was rather into some kind of religion which now escapes me, and decided to bombard us with information and leaflets, trying ... read more

Next leg of the journey was Tofo to Maputo, which involved a couple of days staying with one of Kek's friends who lives a couple of hours south of Tofo in a really beautiful place called Quissico. We hitched a ride in town with all our stuff and then Neils came and picked us up in his very cool retro beetle. I wasn't sure what to expect from Neils' place, but I wasn't quite prepared for what was in store. After staying in what was basically a summer house on the beach I was quite looking forward to a bit of luxury, and it wasn't until I arrived, that I realsied I wasn't going to get it! Neils has moved to Quissico to create a rather cool backpackers/wellness/hippy commune for people to come and stay at/live ... read more

Sooo, hi everyone and I apologise for my complete lack of informing you on what I've been up to for the last few weeks. I've almost forgotten how to write this thing it's been so long... After leaving Durban I headed up to Swaziland for a couple of nights, which to be frank was a bit if a waste of time as it rained almost the whole time and I found the whole place a little boring.. Probably because I was missing my friends and was back on my own, but anyway, decided that rather than staying somewhere that resembled Scotland in the middle of winter I'd move on to sunnier climes, namely Mozambique! Soon after beginning my mission of a trip to get to Mozambique I started to regret it! On leaving the hostel I ... read more

Today is my last day in Durban. Ally, Helend and myself booked ourselves in to a pretty gross hostel in the down town part of Durban, so we could walk around the town and be close to the beach. We quickly realised we were in a pretty dodgy part of town when the guy in the hostel told us there were more places we couldn't walk to than those we could! We took a local minibus taxi thing to the Indian market which was only down the road but apparently not safe to walk to... Too be honest I think we'd have been safer walking than taking the taxi!! Got in to this thing which was totally bazzed up, with lowered suspension, stickers all over it to make it cooler than the next minbus and inside ... read more

Well Arrived in Port St Johns to a hostel called Amapondo. Port St Johns is a place full of old hippies and the pace of life there is slower than a a drunk snail's. It's a really lovely little town with not much going on but is full of character - and characters! It was their holiday weekend when we were there, so lots of festivals and events were going on. I got talking to the owner of the hostel who was I think on his 10th joint of the evening, and he asked if I was a sporty type of person. Wondering how he could have known that I was, I was intrigued so told him I play the odd game of tennis and hop on the mountain bike now and again. In response he ... read more

Hello again!! I've done quite a lot since the last blog effort so will try and tell you as much as possible without boring you! Well Cintsa, as lovely a place as it is, turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. On first inpsection the place was really cool, right near an amazing beach with a really nice little chalet for us to stay in. We decided we were going to go horseriding along the beach the next morning and were so looking forward to it. All the comments in their book said it was one of the most amazing horse rides they'd ever been on. So with high hopes we turned up the next morning only to be told that it was too windy and that the horse riding was off. With hardly ... read more

Well I may as well tell you about the next leg of the trip before I forget it all! So Sarah left me and I caught the Baz bus to a place called Outdsthoorn. Wasn't sure where to go so took a pop at Oudtshoorn whcih sounded pretty interseting - but turned out to be quite dull! Got on the bus and was begining to wonder what on earth I'm doing traevlling on my own when I started chatting to the girl next to me. She turned out to be areally cool girl called Helen from Germany and we hit it off straight away, so have ended up traevvling together ever since. We went together up to place called Knysna, up the coast a bit. there we met another girl called Aly, from scotland, who is ... read more

So It's about time I added some more stuff to this page before I start getting complaints that I haven't written anything. I'm afraid I can't show you any photos yet as I'm in a hostel in the sticks which has just about got internet access and no more. So Cape Town was amazing. Sarah arrived a couple of days after me so I had a couple of days just sussing out the area before she got here. The first day we just did Cape Town and walked down to the waterfront whcih was very nice. Sarah got slightly carried away with all the African things for sale and bought a load of salad servers and giraffes - only to find that every other shop sold exactly the same thing! We also decided to treat oursleves ... read more

Hi! So I've arrived in Cape Town after a few traumatic events which nearly meant I didn't get my flight here from Heathrow! Sorry to bore you with this but I just have to fill you in..On arrival at the airport, I was told there had been a problem with the conveyor belt so they couldn't check in any luggage. Hand luggage only... always a good thing to be told when you're about to go off round the world! Just when I had finally decided to go ahead without my luggage, an annoncement came over the tannoy to say that all flights had been cancelled so I wouldn't be going anywhere at all!! I was just about to give up and go home , when Sarah and I spied an official looking person in a British ... read more
