In February, 2008, our team will embark on a new expedition driving from Le Havre, France, to Cairo, Egypt. Expedition will take us through Europe heading southeast through France, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, to Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and finally, Egypt.
Our team has been planning this venture for two years. The key elements are in place to ensure a successful expedition. All the necessary permits and approvals for the trip have been obtained. We have extensively modified a 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ 62 body style) specifically to meet the challenges that we expect to face on this trip. Our experienced team is in place, the team members are: Mo Sadrpour, my brother Al Sadrpour, and a great friend Lisa Fravel.
My brother and I have traveled together on several other expeditions and represent an impressive combination of skills and talents that will provide for the highest level of success for this journey. Lisa is a well known and established Art Director that has traveled extensively and has recently returned from Cape Town South Africa Expedition to join us for this trip.
Our trip is scheduled to start March 27th, 2008.
Our last day in Cairo. We are writing this a day early so that we can enjoy every second of the last day of this amazing trip. We have seen and experienced so much in the past few weeks. It certainly hasn’t been your typical vacation. There have been some very difficult challenges along the way. But the people we have met, the places we’ve been and the experiences we’ve shared will positively change our lives forever Thank you for following our journey. We look forward to seeing you all when we return. Also, if you would like to make a contribution to our personal finance recovery fund we would be happy to provide you with the account numbers to witch you can send your contribution (LOL). See you soon! -Mo, Lisa and Al (wherever he

We go into the Al-Azhar Mosque and get a tour from one of the men there (who asks for a tip and then complains about the amount until we give him more). We then walk to the “City of the Dead” a huge old cemetery where they built houses rather than graves for the dead. Creepy. We then did the rest of our shopping at the Bazaar, had some lunch and walked back the hotel for some time by the pool.

We are on the 15th floor with a balcony overlooking the Nile and Cairo. Wow! It’s now owned by the Marriott but it’s one of the few historic hotels left in the city. It is too hot and we are too in love with this place to do much of anything today. We walk down the street, get some snacks, come back and take a nap, wake up and go to the pool then have a nice dinner in the courtyard.

We drive to the West Bank of the Nile where we will visit the Valley of the Kings and the tombs there, Al-Deir Al-Bahari Temple and finally the ruins of a workers village. After our tour we shopped the Bazaar, found some local food and brought it back to our hotel for dinner on our balcony overlooking the Nile.

Not nearly as impressive as the on in Cairo, but interesting. Took a walk around town until we got sick of being asked if we wanted a taxi, or carriage. You can’t cross the street around here without someone trying to separate you from your money. Got some good local food and went to bed early.

Lisa waits while Mo runs to the ticket booth to purchase tickets. No! All the Pyramid tickets were sold out! Mo bribes some dude in the ticketing office and gets away with two tickets. What an awesome experience to walk in the Great Pyramid, Whawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! We walked as far away from hoards of tourist we could get. We found a great spot where we sat and stared at the Pyramids trying to get it to soak into our brains that we were actually sitting there seeing what we were seeing. Unreal. We then took a taxi back to the museum. This place
