We were on the road by 8 am after coffee. We said goodbye to the dogs that were at our door this morning. There is fog everywhere and with the sun coming up it is so pretty. We passed through Checotah- Carrie Underwoods home. Picked up spinach feta wraps and lattes from Starbucks outside of Oklahoma city- beautiful sunny day. The roads are so bad in Oklahoma, bumpy ride! We ran into rain for about an hour before crossing in to Texas. The grasslands are a deep yellow/orange color …so pretty. Rows and rows of cornfields. This is what I usually fly over. As we road along I-40 we kept seeing signs for 'The famous 72 oz steak at The Big Texan Steak Ranch' in Amarillo. If you eat the entire steak in 1 hour, it ... read more

Today feels like a day to wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt. After showering, I put on my PINK sweatpants and grey sweatshirt. Probably the fanciest place we will stop today is a Love’s Truck stop and I will fit right in….besides I’ve invoked my ‘I will never see these people again’ philosophy. We left Jackson, TN about 9 am. After driving for an hour, we stop to get our second latte (seems to be the pattern on the road). For lunch we stopped at Krogers and picked up chicken slices, cheese and crackers. They gave us a jar of Boar’s Head spicy mustard free with our purchase. We ate while driving. We hope to watch game 1 of the World Series so as we get closer to stopping time, I look for an RV park with ... read more

We slept in a bit; we are not in a real hurry. I am working remote this week, so will be working from the road. After coffee, cereal and showers, we left Asheville around 10 am. Do you ever have those days where you just don't feel great? Not physically, but mentally. I think it's just knowing that I am leaving this area and my last week in Atlanta will be next week. And it's the not knowing what comes next. There is some excitement in that, but some stress as well. The drive was uneventful but as we got close to calling it a day, I couldn't find an RV park. We can always stay in a Walmart parking lot or a rest area if we need to. I finally found an RV park in ... read more

Pops got up around 7, put Lola in bed with me and left to go to Jason's. They are going to blow the leaves out of his yard down to the creek. His yard has lots of trees. I enjoyed so much snuggling with Lola and slowly waking up. We got up and made coffee and hot chocolate. We used the leftover liquid chocolate for her hot chocolate. It was so good! We are making Pumpkin pancakes and applewood bacon for breakfast. Jason, Amy and Pops will join us in a bit. I found this recipe on 'My Baking Addiction' website. I am not a pancake lover and these were so, so good. Very much worth the effort...especially when you have an 8 year old helper who loves cooking. Pumpkin Pancakes Recipe Yield: 4-5 servings Ingredients: ... read more

Ken and I slept in until around 8 am. We leisurely enjoyed coffee by the fireplace and then took a walk around the lake in the park. You will probably hear me say this many times, I absolutely love autumn. The blue sky, the crisp air, and the smell of the leaves and of course the colorful leaves. We ate cereal, showered then went for a drive. Amy is running a half marathon in Cherokee, NC this morning, so they left early this morning. We will meet up with them later. We drove through some beautiful neighborhoods in Asheville and then headed up to Weaverville. This is such a beautiful part of the country. Jason called and said they ran in to traffic (leaf peepers) on the way back home from Cherokee. Amy wants to go ... read more

We arrived in Asheville around 4pm and went straight to Rutledge Lake RV Park, the same place we spent the summer. It's a beautiful park, just some weird managment quirks that can be easily overlooked. We set up and I left to go to the grocery. Jason, Amy and Lola will come over at 5 for a little happy hour (and to catch up) before going out for dinner. I bought some cheese, crackers, olives, mozzarella balls, juice, beer and wine. I also bought a 'Birthday' balloon and a 'Southern Living' magazine for Amy. I bought her a subcription (and another one for myself!). It's so good to see everyone. We went to Pomodora's, a local Italian Restaurant a few miles away. We came here often last summer and has become a favorite. I asked for ... read more

My contract at Children's Healthcare of Atlanata was extended last December 2013 until October 30, 2014. It has been an amazing time in my life that is coming to an end. This has been my home for 26 months. I will never forget it and have friends that will forever be a part of my life. I do not know where my next contract will be. This adventurous life can test you sometimes...all will work out as God wants it to. Ken and I spent the summer in Asheville, NC in the RV (I flew in and out of Asheville to Atlanta), enjoying the summer with our granddaughter Lola, our son Jason and his girlfriend Amy. Now we are headed to Asheville for one last weekend and then will begin our drive across the country in ... read more

The next three days were pretty uneventful. I worked all day, we had lunch, took a walk. The weather seems to have a pattern. It was overcast in the morning, cleared up with bright sunshine and blue skies by noon. In the afternoon the wind would really pick up and by dusk it would be calm again. On Wednesday night we went to Karl Strauss for dinner. it was so good. We sat outside on the heated patio. Ken had a delicious caesar salad that he ended up sharing with me-it was so good! I had a mixed green salad that was just ok. We shared a dinner: French cut pork chops (my fav), steamed green beans and broccoli. It also came with yummy mashed potatoes that I passed on. It is a micro brewery so ... read more

The day started early...5:30 am. I am working remotely this week and Atlanta is 3 hours ahead thanks to the hour change. Ken made lattes and oatmeal before he left for deep sea fishing. He and Larry are hoping to have better luck by going out on a boat. I had researched and found a place in Oceanside Harbor near where they were yesterday: Helgren's Sportfishing. Henna stopped over and asked if I wanted a salad for lunch...sure! I took a break and took a short walk around the park. It is another pretty day here in Southern California. Back to work. At noon I went over to her RV and we carried our lunch outside to enjoy the weather. I'm going to miss them. They are leaving to go back to Tucson tomorrow. After lunch ... read more

We were all up by 7 am drinking lattes by the fireplace. Ken made oatmeal for everyone. We sat around discussing what to do today-another gorgeous day. I found a place to visit-The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch-(50 acres of color in bloom on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. For over sixty years, the rolling hills of Carlsbad have been a spectacular and coordinated display of natural color and beauty. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are in a full bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area's local heritage, is also one of ... read more
