Arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport around 7pm Sunday. The plane trip was a 45 minute flight, although 30 of it was on the tarmac waiting to take off. We both dozed off, woke up and thought we had landed in Paris but we were still waiting. No problems getting through customs; one of our bags was the last bag to come through; a little scary! We arrived at our hotel: Relais Bosquet Hotel on a narrow residential street. Like the French, we decided to go to dinner late; a quaint restaurant a few steps away from our hotel. Our waiter was friendly and spoke some English; I tried some of my French. Bottle of Bordeaux, French onion soup, cheese and bread, Bon appetit! After dinner we strolled through the streets, looking at the Eiffel Tower ... read more

It'a about 3 pm and we're in London, waiting for our flight to Paris. The trip has been great so far; tiring but good. We got out of Tucson about 8:50 am yesterday, arrived in Atlanta for a 8 hour layover. We decided to take a taxi to the Georgia Tech football game. We enjoyed the game; very excited and dedicated fans. We got back to the airport and hung out in Fridays hoping to catch game 3 of the World Series, but it was on rain a delay. We had to board our flight to London as they were beginning the game. We still don't know who won. Our flight here was good but we didn't sleep well despite taking some sleeping aids. We got through security fine except Ken left his cell phone there. ... read more

Today's the day we have been waiting for so long. We should be about ready for Uncle Don to pick us up to take us to the airport. The key word is 'should'. Instead of driving to the airport, I am sitting in my favorite chair, drinking a latte and eating my toast that isn't buttered all the way to the edges. It's 4:30 am. Delta called to tell us our flight has been postponed until 8:50 am. Nothing like getting up 2 hours early. Deep breaths, Kenny tells me. I asked them why it was cancelled and they said 'crew rest and a security sweep'. Security sweep-that doesn't sound good.. I can relax in that we have a 10 hour (now only 8) layover in Atlanta. Ken keeps calling this an adventure and I remind ... read more

Ken thinks it's exciting, but I think it is stressful. I went on Eurostar's website yesterday to confirm our train from London to Paris. When I clicked the link, I received the following message: 'This journey has been cancelled offline'. What does that mean? I couldn't find any more information from the website. Since I booked it through 'Eurostar' and not a third party, I could only deal with them and I could not find a phone number. I emailed them and this is the response I received: Thank you for contacting Eurostar. Due to the high volume of e-mails received following the recent fire in the channel tunnel, our normal response time has been affected. We will endeavor to respond to all e-mails as soon as possible. If your e-mail is concerning a Eurostar journey ... read more
