Little General - Nae

Nae I travel to stay sane and to get away from a hectic city life....I love it and dream of the day I can travel for months on end and forget about the daily grind! But, I can't bear to leave my boy, kitties, friends & family behind for an extended period of time, in other words I'm still a softie!

After the experience of Ground Zero, we all woke up yesterday ready to hit the sights of New York. As today is my last day here before I leave to spend time with Jen, the girls and I wrote a list with priorities to get "everything" that we wanted to do done! The first stop was the Met; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which sits on the edge of Central Park and the classy Park Ave on the Upper East Side. This art museum is the most visited attraction in NY each year!!! Once we had sufficiently satisfied our hunger for [View Full Entry]

Bring on New York!! After spendig 2 nights in Boston, the univerisity capital of the world, it was great to finally reach a large city again! As much as I hate people, I felt more cramped in other cities than NY even though it is the largest city in the US. After dumping my bags at the largest hostel in the world, 6 of us leftover from the tour went down to Ground Zero seeing it was the 5th anniversary of 9/11. I must say is was an eerie feeling to see the still large hole in the ground and the [View Full Entry]

I am currently in Quebec City, a very cute old European city in Canada. The French settled here in the 1600s and then migrated to Montreal prior to losing a war the the English. Hence the French speaking people in the middle of North America. The province is the prettiest place I have seen since I have arrived here. Quebec City is like being in France and Montreal is very European Cosmopolitan style. Yesterday I went Jet Boating though the rapids of the St Lawrence River in Montreal. IT WAS AMAZING!! I had 2 army style woollen jumpers with a plastic [View Full Entry]

Canadia!!

Canada or Canadia as I think it should be called has been great so far. Crossing the boarder not only added another stamp to my passport but introduced me to the most contradictory place that I think I have ever seen. Niagara Falls is one of the most spectacular things that I have ever seen but the land surrounding it was not declared as a national park so there is revoulting development on each side, particularly the candaian side as the water spills over into Canada from the States. Imagine the tackiest place you have ever seen, doucle it and then [View Full Entry]

Chicago at night

Leaving Chicago very very sad. After making friends with Sara and Ali and some other people at the hostel, it was very sad to leave the windy city. The final day consisted of walking all around Chicago with the group from the hostel, seeing the aqauarium and having one last night together. Sara invited me to a Hens Night, it was at this cute little bar that had a drag queen come and dance every 20 mins or so. It was pretty cool, we absolutley lost it when Whitney was one of the acts. In the end, I have decided that [View Full Entry]

Girls from Hostel
Hen

I have finally arrived in The Windy City (apparently)....whoever named this city has obviously never been to Wellington! After what was the longest day of my life I arrived at the hostel in Chicago last night ready to attempt to sleep off the jetlag. What I didn't expect was to meet two lovely girls the moment I stepped foot into my dorm and go out for some drinks. Thus extended the longest day by a few hours. At 2am (5pm the next day in Sydney) I crawled into bed. My sleep for cut short when the girl from Detroit and the [View Full Entry]

I have finally arrived after I once again left shit to the last minute and at this exact time in Sydney I was running around like a mad woman. Seeing as I have arrived in SFO before I have left my home in Sydney, it is very weird to be having the same day twice!! I must admit that I have somehow managed to jinx myself by placing myself on plane with My Name is Earl as entertainment..ITS NOT funny!! and the most special people on the face of the planet surrounding me!! The girl in front of me complained about [View Full Entry]

10 days to go Even though I am super miss-organised in some ways; i.e I booked and fully paid my tour and flights 4 months out, I somehow never got around to organsing much else. Reminding myself what a shitty friend I have been lately to everyone for lack of contact, I managed to catch another equally non-communicative friend; Jensta, at some ungodly hour of the morning (for her, not me) all thanks to my unexpected tropical disease, which everyone is attributing to burnout...I diasgree, I'm sticking with stress, thanks to the special place I happen to work at!!!!
