Well I thought it was about time to get my finger out and write another blog. What have I been up to for the last 5 and a bit weeks?!! Having left Winton I travelled back South and over the Queensland border just into New South Wales to a small town called Yetman to start work on an 8 acre cattle station. My first couple of weeks consisted of mainly what I was doing in Winton. Mustering and branding cattle just on a much smaller scale. Well this will be my last entry from Werna Station as I leave tomorrow to head South to Goondiwindi and another Cattle Station although considerably smaller!! What have I been up to since the 'Killing'. Well we left the meat to hang for and couple of days and in the meantime mustered in a group of calves to brand, tag, castrate and de-horn (I have to say out of all of the things I've seen since being on the station de-horning is probably the one thing I don't want to see again!! Where do I start. Having not eaten red meat in years and not really even liking the feel of meat it will be a bit of a shock to you all back home that I managed to take part in the killing and butchering of a cow!!! I actually got off lightly as Russ told me when I first arrived at the station that I would be helping with the butchering but one of his friends is over at the moment and he helped with that bit instead!! I arrived at Brisbane early Thursday morning hoping for better weather! Instead I got rain and had to wait in the airport for 4 hours to be picked up as there had been a mix up!! Onwards and upwards, the guy from Outbackpackers was really nice and took me to my hostel then on into town to sort my visa and phone sim etc. I then got to meet up with the rest of the people on the same course as me. Well this is my last entry for New Zealand. Sad to be leaving but excited about Australia!! The last couple of weeks have been hectic to say the least! From Nelson I travelled down the coast to Greymouth, Franz Joseph & Wanaka before stopping in Queenstown for a few days. Along the way I jet boated in the Buller gorge which was awesome fun. Picked the wrong sit though as I ended up at the back on the right of the boat. Well lets just say I got absolutely soaked!!! The story begins of the first leg of my kiwi experience bus. It has its good and bad points. I've been to some really nice places and been given the chance to do loads of activities (budget whats that!!!lol). Also met loads of new people. On the down side i have about 8-10yrs on most of the others!!! Oh forgot to say what I got up to in Auckland before hopping on the bus! The main highlights were the Art museum and the Sky Tower. Wow what can I say, words & pictures just don't do it justice. I took a 2 day trip, kayaking a full day from Marahau to Bark Bay, staying in a hut overnight and then taking the 20km walk back to Marahau the following day. I thought kayaking for a full day would kill me but I found it surprisingly ok, The weather was great, clear blue skys and our guide Eric was really informative about the landscape and wildlife and a really good laugh to go with it!
