I'm a little bit nervous, majorly excited and somewhat insane. I cannot wait to see the world, experience life, become more spiritual & how the world will react to me.

Asia » Japan » Nara » Nara April 27th 2009

After a relatively short journey from Kyoto, i arrive in Nara fairly early on the Thursday morning. I am excited to be hre. Nara is Japan's oldest & most traditional city. It is home to many temples/shrines/parks & deer. I take my stuff to the guesthouse, grab a map n immediately set off to the park. The park has over 7 temples, various woodland areas, numerous shrines, museums and wildlife. The whole area is not extremely big & you can walk around in one day, 2 days if you want to check everything out. I walk straight over to the Todaiji Temple,Tōdai-ji is a Buddhist temple complex. Its Great Buddha Hall, the largest wooden building in the world, houses the world's largest statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu (大仏). The temple also ... read more

Tuesday I arrive in Kyoto at 7.30am, jump on the bus i have been told to in the directions and head over to the guest house. I am hoping they may not mind being woken up so early although it is run by a friend of a friend so i think i will be alright. I drop my stuff off & go to find somewhere close by to get some breakfast. After a quick coffee & toast i jump on a random bus, see that it is heading towarda Matsuo Shrine & decide that i will visit there first. It is raining pretty heavily already & I do not have an umbrella. However, being a true Brit, I do not mind the rain. Especially as it is mild outside and I am yet to experience a ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Asakusa April 23rd 2009

I make my way to Asakusa after the club. It is situated in the North-East part of Tokyo. It is a fair old mission from the area that i am in - which means going, yet again, through fuck-eyed Shinjuku. I am really starting to dislike Shinjuku. It has the worlds biggest train station and it so crammed full of rude people that you just want to SCREAM. Anyway, I arrive in Asakusa around 11am. I take my heavy baggage to the hotel and go to check out the area. I walk down the street that the hotel is situated and see a group of people all waiting outside a little sushi place and decide to wait with them. I am yet to try sushi in Japan and reckon that if there is a queue half ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Koenji April 15th 2009

Saturday Morning I am awaken at 5.15am by the noise from some of the other guests in my dormitory. I was a little cross by this as firstly it is fuckin 5am & secondly they were being so bloody loud. I know i have been getting up myself at 6am most days but i do it very quietly - like a mouse - and respectful of the other people in the room. (I am on a rant here, just give me a moment...lol) *breathes, ooooooh* Right...i could not sleep after the morning madness so i got up at the same time and went to get some breakfast & sit in the morning sunshine. After a few hours i go to pack my stuff & get ready to catch the bus up to Tokyo. I am playing at ... read more

Asia » Japan » Shizuoka » Mt Fuji April 10th 2009

Today i am off to Lake Saiko to do some exploring & caving. Basically Mount Fuji is surrounded by 5 different Lakes. Lake Kawaguchiko being the largest. Lake Saiko is the second largest & also the most beautiful. In order for me to get to Lake Sai, i need to catch the retro bus. The retro bus only runs once every 30minutes until 12pm & then once every 1 hour thereafter. I catch the bus at around 10am. it takes about 45 minutes to get to my location & the journey is wondeful. The scenery is very picturesque! My first stop is BatCave. I am so fuckin excited right now, i absolutely adore bats, amongst other things like octopus & ducks, however i am looking forward to getting in the cave. Immediately i notice - when ... read more

Up at 6am, seems to be my routine now! - Check my emails, have a shower etc etc Do you know what i am going to stop telling you about my daily routine as it is boring me so god knows what it is doing to you guys! - i shall just crack on with the good shit :-} god damn these japanese keyboards! Went out for an amazing walk today around Lake Kawaguchiko. The Lake is absolutely beautiful, it is 22km in diameter & absolutely surrounded by mountains and trees. The only i would fault about it is the trees look like they need a bloody cold watering. I expect the rain does not fall here very often, or if it does, it looks like it does not fall very heavily. First of i mission ... read more

This blog is dedicated to my good friend Andy - who basically told me that if i didn't go to Fugi-Q (which i bloody would've anyway) he'd disown me...Well that is my translation of it. ;-) It's 6am and i'm awake, bright & early and not even tired!...I get up, take a shower, check the emails and head out for an early breakfast @ the cafe. No 2,000yen breakfasts for me...haha After my double-egg, sausage, bacon, salad & toast special (I fuckin love double-egg), I head off to Kawaguchiko station to catch the mini-rail to Fugi-Q. Fugi-Q Highland is the next stop on the line so the journey onyl takes 5 minutes. I arrive at the park @ 10am. It is pretty empty as it has only been open for 1 hour. I head straight to ... read more

After a long train journey involving 4 changes & lots of stopping I arrive at Kawa' in the late afternoon. I get the free bus to the hostel, check in, take my things to my room, make my bed, the usual shit and head out to get some munchies. I'm freakin' starving marvin! There is a 24 hour mixed cafe at the end of the road and decide to eat there. I'm so hungry i end up ordering about 4 different things off the menu, accompanied with a beer & pop. I still haven't managed to get it into my brain that their portions are actually pretty big so I stuff myself silly. The bill turns out to be the most expensive yet! - I'm pretty shocked as we're in the middle of nowhere. Woops! I ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Shibuya April 8th 2009

Night Shibuya is an amazing part of town. The moment i get out of the station I am in absolutle love! - The place is feckin' huge!...The shops are huge, the streets are huge, the crossings are huge and the buildings are huge. It is everything i imagined Tokyo would be. I potter around for a while, i buy some donuts, look in the shops, buy a few bits for friends (Sandy I got you some amazing socks girl!), take in the sights and just generally killing time until i have to meet Tomoka @ 10pm for the Acid Techno party at Amrax Club. Amrax After yet another hour of getting lost around the worlds biggest train station (or at least the biggest i have been) I manage to meet Tomoka and head off to Amrax. ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Shinjuku April 8th 2009

Woke up late again - i swear it's the room!...It is well dark in there with the door shut ;-) After getting dressed I head into Shinjuku to have a look around. I need to buy my train ticket for Kawaguchiko - where i will be staying from Monday to Thursday. Once I have done my errands I wander about and take in the madness. Shinjuku is heaving with people. The place is buzzing & the traffic is heavy. I am in the west part of Shinjuku which is known as the business centre. It is full of skyscrapers, pachinko palours, arcades, shops, bars, restaurants, tourists & salarymen. I pop into an amusement arcade & have a bash on one of the sega games. It's crap but i'm feeling the Japanese vibe of computer madness! - ... read more
