I like it
Yes, yes, yes. I like it so much. I have been to Scotland but only the Lake District, Edinburgh and Glasgow and it was in 1996. It´s soooooooooo expensive for us in Argentina that it will have to wait. Love from Argentina, GRaciela.

Amazing place! I have a Scottish mate I used to live with in Spb...we were over in the UK at the same time and drove up to Mull from Sheffield...his parents still live on Mull and have a farm there. I remember feeling like the odd-one-out English guy surround by muttering Scots...bit of the old braveheart spirit up there and no british bulldogs or protraits of the queen in sight! ;) You properly back in the UK now then mate? - no more USSR? ;)

Yes, it's me.
Can't believe I missed this. I must have been real busy last December. I'm back now, and trying to "switch back to TravelBlog mode" by reading your entry here. Still enjoy your writing, Jon. Love those human interest snippets and characteristic descriptions of how human beings can be so human.

Stormy weather in Brighton

This is a stunning stunning shot :)
I'm really impressed that you got this from a G9 - this is also one of the first comments to be added regarding an individual photo :)

Playing With Words!
Fantastic...I loved the way you played with the words and created a mood and warm atmosphere for Brighton, very clever! I don't know why but I immeadiately thought of W.H.Auden's poem "Night Mail".

I'm not sure if it's just the gorgeous photos (as always) but can I come visit you in Brighton next time you're home? It looks gorgeous! Hope you're ok xx

hilarious
haha as you can imagine, with my level of Russian language I know exactly what you mean by that "the boy is an idiot" look and the "da, da, da" and taking a guess reaction to not understanding. In fact they're both pretty much daily occurrences

i lived in NIZHNIY NOVGOROD for 6 months , and one of my tunisian friends got attacked by the so called "skin head" and the police came to the dorm and blame the guy and didnt operate to catch those who did the attack, all they did is WRITE WRITE WRITE WRITE WRITE what the guy is saying and asking some silly questions!! where they 15 or 20 guys? or 21? it is very difficult to live there since everything is NELZYA! this happened to me : the shower closes at 9 pm and i arrived 1t 8:30 so i still have 30 minutes which is more than enough to have shower , but the BABUSHKA or the old grandma started shouting " NO WAY NO WAY, u cant go inside , 30 minutes is too little too little , o4en malo o4en malo" i wanted to take her lungs out ,but my friend calmed me down ,, 2 days before this incident i spoke the nastiest thing to another babushka who didnt let me in the dormitory because i was few minutes late , and she wanted to keep me outside freezing. russians re very weird and they get crazy as they get old!! they get ugly and crazy! russians can steal anything!many thieves and scammers!

Great Story
I enjoyed your story of intrigue in Moscow. For me, Moscow was always intimidating, but I did not encounter any problems. I did lose my camera there, but that was my fault. It's sad that we left some of our best pictures in Moscow. Maybe some day we will get them back.

I'm anonymous......
yes, jon, that was me..........

What I find really hard to believe is that fellow travellers failed to come to your assistance....what a horrible situation to be in, but a well written tale - at least it ended well!
20th January 2010

You know, I still can't believe this happened to you and you can still look on the positive side on your Russian experience! You are really amazing!

I feel deprived..........
Jon, I read your blog very very slowly. i wanted to take in every word . Practically hang on every word. You certainly tell a story very well. Till the very end, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. But I have to tell u that I'd be waiting for a sequel. Lest you leave me feeling deprived. Story may be old, but I enjoy your telling it. Superb writing!
