Just a bit of a random photo thingy with sport as they common thread. First of all are some photos from the football, and not the sport of Aussie Rules fooball I used to love (due to an abysmal year that vastly resembled the one before and the one before that the mighty Hawthorn Hawks are now dead to me - Shane who?). In an attempt to find a replacement team in a replacement sport to love I took Alice and Craig to Fulham v Everton for their birthdays. It was all very easy to get a ticket, the crowd was [View Full Entry]

Being the winner I am, I flew to Dublin to surprise the lovely Cathy for her birthday. It worked. There were tears. (Good ones.) It was a fleeting visit that had been carefully coordinated with Cathy's housemate Aideen. As is always the case with young Squeezy it was a mad night and all a bit crazy. (Cath, there's a big building in India a guy built for his wife. Pretty amazing. What's it called? He he he.) [View Full Entry]

Iceland Europe » Iceland
Just look at the photos if you're not into reading all this - I'll probably wax lyrical for paragraphs about Iceland because it was so great. I'm avoiding looking at my credit card statement at the moment. It will just upset me after having had such a lovely time in Iceland. I feel very privileged for being able to go there - it's not exactly somewhere that would be affordable for the impoverished student backpacker. I had a pot of beer and then realised it had just cost me about $15. The trip was definitely worth the expense though as Iceland [View Full Entry]

A Junket in Munich  Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Sometimes there are some perks in working for a big company. This was one of them. I had a free trip to Bavaria for a five day Lend Lease junket. We got to stay in a really nice hotel in a beautiful town in deepest darkest Bavaria. Essentially it was five days of hanging out with people from other countries and learning about the similarities and differences between us. And we ate lots of sausages. The nicest bit of the trip was the two extra days I stayed on in Munich with Lisa Chard, my oldest friend. We've known each other [View Full Entry]

You may not know it but I am now a hockey superstar. Well OK, not a superstar exactly, but I participate with vigour and I did win the coveted stuffed toy donkey award for best on ground one week - not bad for a loser who didn't know the rules at the start of the season. I don't think my dream of Beijing 2008 gold medal glory is exactly on track but I'm having fun nonetheless. I play for the mighty Blackheath Ladies 4th XI (see, my name on the site proves I play) and while we didn't achieve great success [View Full Entry]

Aaaahhh.... Budapest. Home to the impressive Heroes' Square, the relaxing thermal baths, spectacular views from the Royal Palace on the Varhegy (Castle Hill)... and a heap of other things we didn't get to see because we ran out of time. I was disappointed not to see the roman ruins of Obuda, the park of now homeless communist monuments, Margaret Island in the centre of the Danube and some of the many, many museums throughout the city. Cathy and I flew in really late last Thursday night and managed to get ourselves to the hostel.... which was not quite the quality place [View Full Entry]

Easter in Wales Europe » United Kingdom » Wales
Aaaah, the joy of a long weekend! Fatboy, Camel and Squeezy (Craig, Alice and Cathy) and I drove up to the north of Wales for four days of eating, riding, resting, drinking, climbing and talking. Good Friday was spent taking the long way up to Wales via the coastal road. We stopped in a little town for fish and chips on the way and arrived at out destination of Bala in the arvo. We'd booked at the last minute at Bala Backpackers which was a nice hostel run by a crazy lady called Stella. I'm not sure what freaked us out [View Full Entry]

Inspired by my recent digicam purchase and provided with an abundance of free hours at work to play on the internet, I have decided to attempt an online record of my time away. Because I have no exciting adventure photos for you all I will start out with showing you my house. I only got the camera a few days ago so it's all I can offer right now, and I'm not even sure I know how to do it so it's a bit of a test. Here's hoping I can work it out.... [View Full Entry]
