Well done guys, thats gotta be one of the toughest 'holidays' i've heard of! Your 'holiday' in general receives a fairly high ‘laughometer’ reading on site and that’s in windy, freezing, uncomfortable ‘lets get the job done and piss off’ Musselburgh. James remember to suppress any temptation to bite people until the rabies injections take effect.
Looking forward to catchin ya for Christmas biguin! I’ll try and get your camera I’ve written a note!
Andy
Well done! Congratulations on a great trip, and thanks,at least from our point of view for putting your progress on the www. We've been entranced by your accounts and it's incredible that we could see some of the views you had. Look forward to seeing you when you're back in Scotland.
nasty gog Hi d! Good to get your news.
Not happy about dog bite. T will have emailed you re quick action. Please make sure you get it without delay. The b.....Hope its ok and not infected. Your bottom sounds in a pretty bad way too! Time to return to a nice, safe easy office job! -Difficult I imagine.
Will be in touch soon. Take care All love M x

and another! Have just replied to your blog of 02.12.06 when I came across your entry of 30th Nov. Fab photos. Unfortunately the 1st 2 pages wont print.. Never mind. Will just have to log in more often. Vml M xx
Hi Jimbo Great to find you've surfaced once more.
We will look forward to hearing about Peru very much when you return. In fact we are trying to arrange our trip there and tossing up whether to try and walk part of the trail... bearing in mind we are 95 and wondering about vertigo etc! Any comments?
Have just been to yoga and am feeling pretty chilled out. How is yours going?
Send us those pictures. They are amazing. We've booked you in for a lengthy slide show!
Dad is off swimming. 32 anniversary next week! How time flies!
Say hello to Dom and don't do anythimg too crazy!
All my love M xx
I'm back! At last my computer is back! I feel full bodied once again! It took Tim G 8 days to cure it of the various varuses that were 'cotaminating' it.
Have printed off your 3 latest blogs for bed time reading! Should keep me going for sometime!
Glad to hear all's well tho' hope your stomach thing is better. Sounds nasty - and not the easiest thing to cycle with. Careful what you eat/drink. I'd have thought all that alcohol would have kept any bug at bay!
Andy and Jen in Barbados at present. T and J busy planning!
Speak soon.
Very much love and take care. M xx
Hi Dere! keep the blogs coming!! sounds interesting to say the least! I'm back from Saudi but your countries are mprobably even more interesting. excelente photos! mld
Sorry Chief!! Read bits of the blogs. Obviously loving the cycle stats!
Sorry to do this to you on your holiday but Andrew is looking for a file (BD Cost Spreadheet) that you regularly update for him. He just want to know where it is saved and how to input the data (through macro?). Not sure whether you get the data from crystal reports or through PMD.
If you can just email me on ross.mitchell@mottmac.com. Hopefully just a quick explanation then you can get back to your cocktails and cigars!!
Apologies again but you know how it is.
Cheers chief. Keep on pedalling!!
Later
Ross
hey ho! sounds amazing!!! mum says hi as her computer's on the blink. would you take some photos at our wedding please! i hope you pay for the mangos. lots of love tx
Hurray Hurray Jack and Dom, well done, you both survived to the ton weight of attention from my folks in La Paz, even the bolivian flag seemed to be over your head d. Jack. Thanks for the opportunity to see those stunning photos of Copacabana and Lake Titikaka. I think from this point, it will be much easier for you to achieve your challenge. My brother in law (Roberto) would be much proud to see Dom wearing a TIGRE T-shirt. All the best, take care. Norma
Hi! It seems that my last message (of 31st I think) never got through..? Or is it you haven't read it yet?Never mind it wasn't that amazing!
Great to hear the various accounts from you both. Keep them coming!
How're the legs and the head?!
Andy and Jen arriving tomorrow which will be good. Dad off to Saudi on Sunday. Just been to Court over sad, vitriolic fight involving 3 children. No wonder we have the worst teenagers in Europe!
Thanks so much for birthday messages.
Speak soon. Take care Mlm x
am I getting through? Hi J and D - I'm not sure if my 'blogs' are getting through! It's all a frightening new experience (far more tricky than a mere bike ride through South America!) and I'm probably pressing all the wrong buttons. Anyway IF this does get through, we are following the GREAT BICYCLE EXPOTITION with great interest. Keep it coming!
I'm supposed to be preparing 'workshops' for Riyadh next week so better get back to it after this interesting 'mini break'. Buen suerte y cuidadate (or to be translated in case Dom's phrase book has got lost - ''good luck and be careful'!) D/R
Hi there again! Not quite sure how this works. Hope its not tagged on to some ancient entry!
Anyway, sitting here at 5ish in am, having suddenly woken up and found myself cycling round Lake Titi, across into Peru with you both!Have thoroughly enjoyed both your accounts. They are v vivid and I just feel I'm there (without the effort!)
Thanks d for email, photo and for your phone call on my b'day. Sorry I wasn't there. Was celebrating with Dad and T!
Will call in again soon.
Love to Dom,
Take care and all love M xx
yo jimbo. i'm on HOLIDAY!!!!!!! and so have had a moment (or two!) to read your blog. feel a bit daft writing a small reply! however, things seem generally positive and that's the main thing. what you're both doing is awesome. saw mum and dad for her birthday yesterday, in a posh restaurant, they are getting REALLY excited about their travels too, i'm not sure how much you'll overlap with what they'll be doing..... take care
twinkyxx
Hi ya! Hi d! I typed a lengthy 'comment' yesterday only to find I'd been knocked off - and so lost it! This'll therefore be short!
Hope all's well and knees are bearing up. Sounds a fantastic place. Suggest booze and altitude aren't a great coctail!
We're putting flesh onto our trip now. Great fun.
Take care, darlingh
say hi to Dom
All love M x
greetings from Blighty was it really 30 km walks we dragged you on. Hmm yes probably was - and ups and downs at that. Obviously gave you a taste of wild places though so all good in the end!! Sounds amazing so far if pretty hard particularly at that height. Great photos - keep then coming if you can.
Did you meet up OK with Norma's brother, mother etc in La Paz?
All well here - our Saudi Client over here at present so met them yesterday. hard to recognise without all their flowing robes but quite a good night - no booze though!! i'm off for my next 10 day stint on Nov 5th. China more or less finished now.
anyway hope all continues good - if hard! look after yourself. Saludos a Dom tambien. MLD
Settling In Even More James,
So, to the Russian "philanthopist", seems a nice chap but clearly must be "ragged trousered". Handing out monster cigars to sell cigar rests out of two playing cards is questionable economics even for a philanthopist.
It seems it is a small world after all, you can stumble over chairs equally well in a Miami bar as you can in Henry J Beans. It seems though that they are more tolerant over there and do not require minor misdemeanours to go punished with three rounds with the bouncers. So what was the Mexican barmaid like then? Should have given you some cards to distribute.
Glad to hear you have got to La Paz, after the initial delay. Impressive photo of La Paz, the airport must be some 1000ft above the city. Hopefully you team up with Jac soon, after his own delays.
Settling In? On holiday this week so plenty time to respond to TravelBlogs. These blog diaries are no fun if nobody responds so will try to respond as often as possible.
So it seems you are settling right in to Miami Beach life - pity about the delay though eh! Particularly enjoyed the message related by the third of the male orientated t-shirts.
Beach pictures look great, but a few comments regarding the 'ME' picture.
Firstly, there is every chance you might survive if one of your five spanish words is 'agua', although on this occasion 'water' probably did the trick. To my shame, I have found myself on a french holiday hopping over the Spanish border to San Sebastien in 32 degree heat and having a mind blank on the old 'agua'.
Secondly, who supplied the palm tiara (looks like something out of Priscilla Queen of the Desert). Only jesting.
Lastly, with no outstretched arm, it does not seem that you have taking this photo yourself. So who took the photo? More to the point, how did you manage to take the photo when you got to La Paz airport? Did you catch the hoodlum or simply use the timer?
howdi! Great to hear from you. let us know when you're in La Paz and what its like.
Just had the future in laws for we and t and j.
Hope this bloggy thing works!
Hope you got over 'cold' and didn't develop tonsilitis - not ideal for demanding cycling.
All well here. Study finished (apart from painting) - and carpets down! Looks greta.
Take care darling and will chat longer later.
All love M xx
.
Rat Race Hello Squirells,
Enjoying your blog so far. Just a quick message to let you know that our resplendent cycle speedway effort made it into the Edinburgh Rat Race highlights shown on Channel 4 yesterday. Our filthy tactics are only marginally overshadowed by Jac's hair though both look lovely on the telly.
Have fun,
Steve
