It's so hot! Asia » India
Hi everyone, It is half ten at night and it's 31C! Friday is due to be 38C. So so hot. We are down to our last 4 weeks of the course, can’t quite believe it! We both have completed 12 sermons, (only three to go, woo hoo!) Stephen used one of his to lead the devotions and did very well. One I’m working on at the minute is based on David and his dependency on God and I’m going to be “preaching” the devotion based on that on Thursday 11th June. Would appreciate any spare prayers about that one, yikes! We [View Full Entry]

Half way there! Asia » India
Hi everyone, Just a little update! We have had a hectic week so far, we only had Sunday off over the weekend, and it will be the same this weekend. However, we are here to experience as much as we can so we are glad we are busy. On Sunday evening after church we went to the beach for bbq fish. It was lovely to sit in the company of friends and feel fire in you mouth!! They didn’t put as many hot spices on our fish and it was still hot! We had to have two ice creams each to [View Full Entry]

Poor Stephen

Hi everyone, Sorry we are only getting round to updating the blog now, we meant to update it sooner. We have had a really great week in class, we were studying an overview of the old and new testament on Monday - Thursday then on Friday we were learning about Christian meditation (meditating on the bible). It was really really good and on Saturday the lecturer, a lovely wee Indian man (who called Bronagh Mrs. Stephen) took us out to a park in the city. He had debated about bringing us out because of the heat etc but Saturday turned out [View Full Entry]

This week we have been given a crash course into how to study the bible in depth. Thursday and Friday will be how to present a message well. We have really enjoyed it this week. It reminds me (Bronagh) of the kind of in depth study I did at University for English Literature. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this. Hopefully as a result of these past few days we can add a bit more depth to our sermons, I say hopefully mind you!! Definite prayer point there! We have approximately five sermons written each so far. It has required [View Full Entry]

Settling in Asia » India
Hi folks, Everything is going really well for us here in India, we have settled into the bible college really well and we have met some really lovely people. Its great getting to know other Christians from a completely different culture. Here is an idea of our daily routine. Alarm goes off at 6:30am, we leave for class at 7:20am in an air conditioned (praise the lord) jeep. We arrive at the school (which is also the church) at 7:50am and we take 10 minutes of a quiet time before someone in the class leads worship for 10 of 15 minutes [View Full Entry]

Yesterday was our first day at the bible course and we really enjoyed it. The room is air conditioned which is great and they also have numerous fans on the ceiling so there is no problem with us over heating. We basically got an overview or what all the course entails and we are looking forward to the excitement of it. As well as the various subjects that we will be covering we have numerous assignments to do: Learn the books of the bible (which is basically given to all students to do to save any embarrassment to the ministry itself [View Full Entry]

Our Indian Wedding Asia » India
This morning at Little Hearts was very interesting to say the least. Iyyappan held a wedding reception for us with all the children and staff at the orphanage. First of all we were dressed up in traditional Indian wedding garments, Bronagh was wearing a sari and I was dressed in a ‘dodi’ which is basically like a wrap around skirt!!! We were then driven to the orphanage and brought up to the top floor of the Little Buds school which is right beside the orphanage. The room was well decorated with streamers, tinsel and a big banner to congratulate us. There [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, After having a few relaxing days in London we set off for India on Sunday 12th and arrived in south east India at 3:15am. It was 26 degrees when we were getting off the plane in the middle of the night which didn’t encourage us for what it was going to be like in the middle of the day. We were collected at the airport by Iyyappan (pronounced eye-a-pan) and Rita the founders and directors of the Little Hearts orphanage which we have been supporting for a few years now (www.actsministries.co.uk ). We were very glad to get to [View Full Entry]

Before We leave Asia » India
We are currently getting nervously excited about travelling to India. As this is a missions trip we will have to be careful about the information that we display because of the persecution that is going on at the minute so names of places and people may be changed during this blog to protect ourselves and the people we are working with. Please follow us on this trip, we will really value your interest and your prayers. God Bless. [View Full Entry]
