British Food Ian, Carol,
Perhaps British food is more expensive becuase it is of better quality, more 'organic', with flavour whilst being healthy and appetising....then again, perhaps not!
Hope you have been tracking British success in the Olympics? All our winning sports so far involve sitting down!
Tom Mix and Tony In the olden days before colour when everything was black and white apparently there was a horse called Tony (my Dad told me about him). Apparently he could run like the wind and always won his races unlike some of the spavined nags that a certain person has told me to bet my hard earned cash on. But I'm not bitter!
We didn't make one bet whilst in Las Vegas so at least I'm ahead on that.
Who? Ian, Carol,
Forgive me, but I can just about remember who John Wayne was, but "Burl Ives, Tom Mix and his horse Tony"? Please.
And can I take it from the negative comments about the inside of the casino that one didn't win? ;-)
Relaxing... Well I get relaxed just reading your blog, so goodness knows how you have the energy to move on! If you go to melbourne, let me know, as Breton and Krishna (my eldest son and daughter in law) live there.
Great read Hi Ian and Carol,
Tu forwarded me the link to your blog. Great to read this entry and be reminded of that beautiful beach. Funny to remember the sock-washing comment too, that was Martin! Can't believe we actually got that lazy now, seems a world away. Life is good back here. Although weather not quite up to Tioman standards, narrowly missed being caught up in the Burma cyclone and has been pretty nasty here too. Will watch your blog as you head to Bali. Can't wait to see pictures of Ian up on his surf-board! Was lovely to meet you both and don't worry, Tu reckons I'm already starting to see the light and come around to your advice! ;-) Keep having a great time and keep in touch, love Jen
Is that really petrol Ian is putting into the car... ....I know service stations are rare in the jungle but really!
Keep up the blogging - it is an excellent distraction from the joy of a UK winter/spring.

Wow! Continues to sound amazing....
...We are thinking of letting the local estate agents know about the wonderful Chinese marketing ploy with respect to bathrooms..... Hall of Mental Cultivation indeed.....surely it is a Palace of Mental Cultivation and Serenity!
Fortune Teller So are you going to let us know what the fortune teller predicts for you? Did he/she see travel to Belfast again? Or working again? How about the lottery numbers for Saturday?
Interesting to hear how you see similarities between the north of Thailand, France and Lincolnshire....only one of these had an earthquake last week, though!

Bliss... Well you certainly know how to get me envious...! It sounds just wonderful. I have really enjoyed reading the blog as it feels as thouhg you are really beginning to relax into life at a different pace. I imagine Newcastle is a distant memory now. But what I really want to know is, are you going to buy a small beach hut somewhere, and can I come and stay?!
Escape from Alcatraz... I distinctly get the feeling that I'm trapped in a hard labor penitentiary which you two escaped from....and whilst reveling in your freedom you send us lovely postcards whilst on the run!
It does brighten our hum drum existence, but also high lights what is truly important in life.
Good for you for setting the example!!!
LOL

Happy New Year Happy New Year to you both.
The sun is clearly getting to you Ian - how can you use the word idyllic without reference to the UK on a wet/snowy/cold/windy/dark early January evening when the post-Christmas blues are kicking in, the scales say that you need to lose 2 stone and there is nothing on TV/at the theatre/at the cinema etc. ;-)
Carol - chip butties - my favourite too!
Greetings First time I have managed to find a minute to have a look at your blog. Looks wonderful. Missing you. Working hard as ever. Have Monica, Chris and Chris' mum along with J's uncle coming for New Year. Have a great New Year and will try and 'blog in' occasionally to see what you are both up to.
Love
Ande
xx
It just all sounds so good, and what a long way from Newcastle. Can you not think about hopping onto a Air India or Air Arabia flight and coming to Sharjah for a few days...?!
Have a wonderful New Year, and all the best for 2008. Much love Sue
Broccolo for breakfast... ...on Christmas Day would challenge some people's Christmas spirit, but I am glad to see that it didn't put a dent in yours!
Your blogs have been great to read on dull grey UK days, just like this one, so keep writing... and in the meantime I hope you had a great Christmas and it certainly sounds as if you did.

Jaipur Just loved your comments re jaipur, as I went there earlier this year, and you bought it all back . It sounds as if you are loving it so much....will you want to go back to the UK?!
We are just getting ready for Eid here, as I expect much of India is as well. It would be great to hear what the preperations are like over there. There's a frantic buying up of goats here....

What a present! Carol,
You must be delighted - all those jewels for Ian to select one or two (or 184cts) from for your Christmas present.......hope I haven't spoilt the surprise from santa?
I am writing this from Mumbai airport, disappointed that you both did not drop into the hotel last night for drinks (you must have got the text?). After all, it can't be that far from Mumbai to Agra can it?
Thanks a ton Thanks a ton Ian and Carol. It is wonderful to see your involvement with the kids in the school. Simi mentioned to me about the visit and I really appreciate the time spent by both of you in our Xansa supported school. I firmly believe that such gestures from across our organisation (Xansa - Steria) make our worklife exciting and our lives so much more meaningful.
Thanks you once again and have a wonderful time in India.
Regards,
Gayathri Mohan
