Just a quick update as we have had such a great time -

Stayed at the Jaypee Vasant Continental in Delhi - which is really luxurious and above all friendly - the staff there are great and especial thanks to Robina who has looked after us so well - currently in Jaypee in Agra which is also really good.

Went to the National Museum of India to see the Nizam of Hyderabad Jewels Exhibition. Astonishing gems and enamelling. There was the worlds sixth largest diamond at 184 carats - and also all sorts of things made of diamonds, pearls, rubies and sapphires including that “must have” item - ankle bracelets! There was a big set of unset emeralds given to the Nizam by the Russian Czar.

Also saw a great collection of Indian Miniature paintings.

This morning had the 4 hour car trip to Agra and the Taj Mahal.

As the light changes the colour of the Taj changes - we could have sat all day and looked at it. A truly memorable and wonderful day!

Love to all

What a present!
Carol, You must be delighted - all those jewels for Ian to select one or two (or 184cts) from for your Christmas present.......hope I haven't spoilt the surprise from santa? I am writing this from Mumbai airport, disappointed that you both did not drop into the hotel last night for drinks (you must have got the text?). After all, it can't be that far from Mumbai to Agra can it?
