So I've arrived - slightly jet lagged, but journey really ok - passed in a zopiclone induced haze of aeroplane meals. Spent my first afternoon wandering aimlessly around the city, until I realised my feet hurt and I was starving - and ended up with Dominoes pizza for dinner - not sure I travelled 20,000km for that one. Anyway - the hostel I'm staying in, The Old Countryhouse, is lovely - friendly feel, comfy bed, nice garden, clean loo, etc. Tried to 'do' Christchurch today - speed visit to the museum to see an exhibition of photos of Antarctica (lots of snow), followed by a visit to the International Antarctic Centre. This was slightly gimcky - with an 'antarctic storm experience' (you get to stand in a large freezer with a big fan blowing at you),
