Heidi in Japan - Heidi

Heidi ok so ´heidi in japan´ is no longer fitting because heidi esta en españa ... but that would mean sorting out a whole new website which I can´t be fiddled to do so continue to keep up to date with my next adventure on this site!

i will spend the next 2 months working as an english teacher at a spanish summer camp in burgos... i can´t wait!

i don´t know how much free time i will have so i may not be able to write regular blogs but i don´t want to disappoint my fan club - well, helen! - who have become so addicted to my blogs!

i may even consider publishing a series of ´heidi in... ´ books when i´ve completed my travels! xx

Yet another exciting year of living abroad has quickly come to an end! My final few months at work were very busy and one of the scariest moments involved mumbling my way through around 40 parents meetings... in Spanish! However, some of the more FUN things that I did in the last few months were... - enjoy a day out to Isla Magica (the theme park!) with rakhi and joel where i was persuaded to go on one of the biggest and scariest roller coasters i have ever been on! - dance the night away at a music festival, featuring the [View Full Entry]

Oh yikes, another few months have gone by without a travel blog update! I just don’t seem to have the free time here that I had in Japan! So, another summary of recent highlights is in order methinks: In February, the newly engaged lovebirds, Charlotte and Dave, came out to visit me for a few days and we had a FAB time soaking up the Sevillian sun! On their first day, we had a lovely stroll around the old santa cruz area and the cathedral. We found a yummy place to enjoy some tapas and then I dropped them off at [View Full Entry]

i've just been told by travelblog that it has been 90 days since i last published a blog! yikes, i didn't realise that i hadn't updated everyone on my adventures since then! to be honest, i'll probably find it quite difficult to remember every single thing i've done for the last 2 / 3 months but the main highlights have been ... - a visit from my parents, sister and brother-in-law who came out to stay for a week in october. we enjoyed doing all the seville touristy things (including watching an amazing flamenco show) and also spent a beautiful day [View Full Entry]

Another week has whizzed by at school and I’m getting more of a handle on what I’m supposed to be doing in my classes… I’m even starting to like the teenagers - well, a little bit anyway! We’ve just had a long weekend and so enjoyed a few day trips with Tim and Silvia, 2 of the other teachers here who we get along really well with. We spent Saturday in Cordoba and visited the beautiful Mezquita and Alcazar (castle). It was very relaxing to stroll alongside the river and explore the narrow cobbled streets. On Monday, we spent an afternoon [View Full Entry]

starting school... Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Seville
I had my induction at the school about a week and a half ago… there were 5 other teachers starting at the same time as me and there’s about 25 teachers altogether at the school. We had lots of meetings with different teachers about the timetables and routines for each class we have… our heads were just buzzing by the end of it all! The next day, I only had 2 classes - with teenagers though… yikes! My first class was HORRIBLE! The boys were lovely and really made an effort to speak in English but the girls were full of [View Full Entry]

Another week has flown by and I’ve been making the most of my free time... consuming plenty of ice cream and sunning myself basically! I’m already starting to get my bearings around the centre and not rely quite so heavily on my trusty little map! Earlier in the week, Phil and I took a trip to Ikea to stock up on a few bits and bobs which would make our apartment a little more homely... we set ourselves a budget but obviously went over this... by almost double! But hey, our flat looks great now and we really love coming back [View Full Entry]

Gosh, has it really been a month since I last wrote on my blog?! Ok, a bit of an update is therefore in order! So, I had a great time at camp and really enjoyed spending 2 months with some great people in Spain… I got on particularly well with one of the other teachers, Phil, and we became a bit of an item. At the end of camp, we had a chat and basically decided to move to Seville, you know as you do… a bit drastic seeing as we’d only known each other for less than a month, but [View Full Entry]

... and i am really looking forward to heading back home for a while so i can see all my family and friends! i am going to make a list of all the food i want to scoff while i´m back as camp food hasn´t exactly been a great dining pleasure - fried stuff with cheese and watery soup, mmmmmm! on the plus side, i have lost a lot of weight and trousers which i actually split before i left home because my legs were too chunky are now like hipsters on me! so if anyone is trying to lose weight [View Full Entry]

after waving goodbye to the fabulous group of kids that we had in the third shift, me and 4 of the other teachers jumped on a bus to san sebastian - a 3 hour trip away - to chill out by the beach. we stayed in a hostel called ´ocean view´ and it certainly had the most stunning view of the water! after we had settled in, we had a walk down the streets with an ice cream and obviously stopped off in an outside bar to soak up the sun and knock back a few beers. in the evening, we [View Full Entry]
